The island of the Aegean Sea where the art of viniculture and wine making developed for the first time during the ancient years. Athiri, Moschato, Amoriano… Delicious varieties of the Rhodian soil fermented in the mild microclimate on the island’s highest Mountain Attaviros. Ideal for the production of wine of character and quality. While the precious winery secrets, reaching far back to the years of the Rhodian Knights gently intermingle with the Mediterranean’s fervor and saltiness, Oinotheque Emery consigns values unchangeable over time. Since 1923, when Oinotheque Emery was created, the grape’s cultivation procedure, the must process and the vinification methods have evolved in many ways. The respect for quality, tradition and values have remained constant and have led the way to the third generation of the Triantafillou family, opening tasty pursuits and new horizons. The village of Embonas is where you’ll find the Emery Winery, one of the oldest and largest wineries in Greece.
Lovely ride up to the winery by motorcycle from Rhodes town through some lovely villages. We sampled a good range of their wines and liked them all. It was difficult to deide as we were limited by what the motorbike could store. Finally decided on a wine, but we hope to return to stock up with more of their wines.

Love for the island, Love for the wine A new age Winery with modern aesthetics whose primary goal is to set and impose all the standards for higher quality wine production. Our establishment is a great way for the world to get to know Kos not only as a destination for their vacation but as an island with great wine production, wines with particular flavours revealing with them the nature of the land in which the grapes were grown. Each meeting of people who are friends of wine and the journey with them from our vineyard to their glass. A trip that is repeated every year and yet, it is different every year, a new search for the best experiences and nuances in wines.
If you enjoy wine and are interested to find out more about Greek wines and winery production then I highly recommend a visit to this vineyard. We have visited lots of vineyards in the UK, France and South Africa and this was a very comparable, enjoyable experience. The wines are good quality and the tasting setting overlooking the vineyard was quite lovely. An informative tour of the winery by our extremely knowledgeable host Vangelis really added to the experience. A great way to spend a couple of hours.

Alexandris Family Winery is situated at the village of Embona, on the slopes of mount Ataviros, the heart of the wine region of Rhodes, in southern Greece
We visit Embonas every time we travel to Rhodes (3 x 2020) and I must say I always enjoy the wine tasting experience at Alexandris Winery. The shop now just further through the village has a great display of wines on the shelves and Despoina has been a great host for us when we have sampled the wines there. The brothers work very hard to produce such nice wine and have also been great hosts on our visits in the past. I always purchse different wines but my wife and family love the medium sweet wines whether red or white and their semi sparkling Rose is also very pleasant. Don't just take my word for it take a trip to Embonas and sample the wines here I'm sure you will not be disappointed.
