Wine and cava are a part of Catalan history. Each glass preserves a small piece of the past, which is why wine tourism in Catalonia is about much more than wine tasting. Catalonia is a land of contrasts, one being the agricultural landscape of Priorat where the elevated terrain in terraced llicorella soil requires the planting of small plots which gives the wine that unique taste. Another being the vineyards by the sea that are twisted by the winds of the Empordà DO where grapes are grown at 1,000 metres altitude on the Vi de Lleida route, and also the vineyards of Bages, which are protected by the bulk of Montserrat Mountains. On this tour, you'll discover the varied landscape and Catalan cultural heritage through more than 300 wineries that will open their doors to you. You'll cover two of the twelve wine designations of origin throughout Catalan including one cava Designation of Origin.
Inclusions: Breakfast, Breakfast, Breakfast, Breakfast, 4 nights accommodation, Dalí Theatre and Museum in Figueres, Arrangements for all visits & taste at the wine cellars.

The history of wine in the northeastern part of Spain began more than 2500 years ago, when the Greeks founded the town of Emporion aside the Mediterranean and brought their wine to the Iberian Peninsula. Later on, the Romans continued in the area with their vine growing. Placed at the foot of the last part of Pyrenees is ideal for characteristic and full bodied red and white wines, but also delicious dessert wines, sparkling and rosé wines are produced in the region. All around the “Cap de Creus”, where the last part of the Pyrenees meet the sea, the dark rock is carved by the wind into fascinating formations, which absolutely fascinated the artist Salvador Dalí. I really enjyed this tour along the amazing costa Brava coastline.. Before starting the hike along the coastline we visited the enchanting town of Begur, whilst there Karen & Xavi told us all about the towns history and pointed out interesting aspects of the towns architecture. As somewhat of a hiker the trek along the coastline was my favourite part of the tour. The hiking trail goes up and down over the rugged costa Brava coastline giving spectacular views of the small villages and mediterranean sea. I would advise good shoes as the path is quite rugged and at times you'll need good grip when traversing down some of the rockier parts of the trail. Really great day out! Thanks Xavi og Karen!
