Our active tour in the Costa Brava begins with the exploration of the family-run wine Celler Mas Molla in Calonge. We will try several locally produced wines and Montse will tell us everything about the wine culture and the traditional wine fermentation in the oak casks. We will then drive to the coast and start our gentle walking tour on the famous El Camino de Ronda in Sant Antoni de Calonge. There will be plenty of time for you to discover this unique path and its treasures. In the afternoon we will depart to a once important Roman stronghold, Tossa de Mar. Here we will explore this unique coastal town with its castle. We will stroll through the old town and then you will be able to choose from three beaches to spend your afternoon on. You will be let free to enjoy your afternoon whether you fancy a relaxing nap or further explorations of the old town. We will depart back to Barcelona around 16;00 in the afternoon so that you can continue enjoying your holidays.

We will visit Siurana, a charming town of cobbled houses and streets, where the Romanesque church stands out. After Siurana we will visit the Baronia del Montsant winery, a vineyard located in Cornudella, where we will carry out a tasting of 7 wines accompanied by a delicious local Cornudella appetizer. We moved to Escaladei, a town that originally was the Conreria of the Carthusian monastery that was established near there. Here we will visit the facilities of Cartuja de Santa María de Escaladei, the main monument of the region, which currently belongs to the Museum of History of Catalonia. We will visit the Castle of the Counts of Prades, currently enabled as a Wine Interpretation Center. Then we will go to the Falset Marçà Agricultural area, where we will do a small tasting tasting.

The history of wine in the northeastern part of Spain began more than 2500 years ago, when the Greeks founded the town of Emporion aside the Mediterranean and brought their wine to the Iberian Peninsula. Later on, the Romans continued in the area with their vine growing. Placed at the foot of the last part of Pyrenees is ideal for characteristic and full bodied red and white wines, but also delicious dessert wines, sparkling and rosé wines are produced in the region. All around the “Cap de Creus”, where the last part of the Pyrenees meet the sea, the dark rock is carved by the wind into fascinating formations, which absolutely fascinated the artist Salvador Dalí.
