Palermo is an urban melting pot characterized by history and culture so diverse that it often feels conflicted. Discover an intriguing range of architectural styles, from Arabian domes to baroque buildings, and enjoy delicious cuisine that spans a variety of origins. Be sure to visit the Palace of the Normans, the Palatine Chapel and the church of St. John of the Hermits. Art and music lovers won’t want to miss the Galleria d’Arte Moderna (the “GAM”), the Salinas or an opera or ballet at the Teatro Massimo.

It is a full day trip from Palermo to Etna and Taormina. Our guide Josephine was amazing and told us a lot about Sicily along the way. When we arrived to Etna it occurred that the cable car wasn't working and we had to go to the top by bus. Unfortunately, this took much longer time than a cable car so we had just a shirt stay on the top. After Etna we went to Taormina which is a breath-taking town with wonderful views over Etna and the sea. I wish we could stay there longer as it is a truly beautiful place. Overall, I would recommend this trip to everyone but be ready for a full day trip with lots of driving which can be tiring.

Mimmo is a superb driver and guide. Informed, considerate and kind, he drove us across Sicily and revealed the character and mystery of Sicily to us along the way with intelligence, good cheer and humor. His English is impeccable. When we return, we will certainly use his services again. We loved Sicily, and Mimmo was a big part of the experience.

Our meeting point is at 10.00 am in front of the Massimo Theatre in Piazza Verdi, from there we have a short walking to the Capo Market, where we pick up all the fresh ingredients we need for our cooking class. Afterwords we will be in our location situated in the old neighborood la Vucciria, where we will cook for all the morning. What you will prepare is a full course sicilian menu based on fish, meat or vegetarian on request, totally three dishes. We will start from an appetizer of local olives cheeses and Monreale bread with extravergine olive oil with a glass of wine. However the menu is seasonal, so it changes. During the class you will prepare the authentic sicilian Limoncello with the lemons that the chef grows in her land nearby the Nebrodi park. At the end of our cooking day you will have all the recipes and the recipe of limoncello. But as a gift, you will receive a small bottle of our home-made limoncello to carry back home!
Inclusions: Small bottle of our home-made limoncello
Exclusions: All Fees and Taxes
We recently had a private cooking class with Patrizia. She was warm and welcoming from our first meeting in the piazza. She first took us to some shops near her home to buy ingredients for our class. We then cooked with her in her cozy loft and made the most delicious dishes. Patrizia is very knowledgeable and talented on all things wine, food and Sicilian. We definitely feel as if we have made a new friend in Sicily.

This was the fourth Streaty virtual cooking class I’ve taken and, like all the others, it was great fun and the results were a real wow. My husband and I couldn’t believe how well our cannoli turned out. Tasting them, we felt like we were back in Sicily. Marco and Daniela took us step-by-step through the process, sharing traditional techniques and tips – the kind of insider stuff you can’t get by just reading a recipe. It was very entertaining, too, plus good material is sent ahead of time, and it's easy to ask questions during class. We plan to make all the recipes again, and hope Marco offers more classes in future.

The Sicilian Pantry is a family run cookery school located in the heart of the Historical centre of Palermo. We offer daily market tours & cookery lessons of traditional Sicilian dishes. We meet in the morning at one of Palermo’s oldest markets, shop around for any items we will need for the lesson and then stroll to the air-conditioned school kitchen where we prepare a 4 course Sicilian meal, learning the techniques & tricks needed to recreate it when you return home. After the lesson we can sit down together to enjoy our efforts along with a selection of Sicilian wines rounded off with some homemade liqueurs & coffee We believe that the true expression of Sicilian cuisine comes from the quality of its fresh seasonal produce so we strive to always ensure that we have the best of what Sicily has to offer in order to share this with our guests This is an entertaining and informative day out, recommended for cooks of all levels We meet at 09:30 & lessons typically end around 15:00

The tasting includes 2 glasses of wine or 2 cocktails each and a selection of typical Sicilian appetizers
