Top 10 Wine Tours & Tastings in North Holland Province, The Netherlands

November 7, 2021 Alida England

Mostly jutting northward from its largest city of Amsterdam and its capital of Haarlem, the Noord-Holland region has much more to offer beyond those two wonderful cities. At Muiden is the magnificent Muiderslot Castle, as if it stepped out of a fairy tale. Showing more wear but no less interesting is Brederode Castle at Santpoort. At Zaanstad is Zaanse Schans, one of Holland’s top tourist destinations and a family-friendly open air museum of windmills, traditional buildings, crafts and shops.

Three of us gathered in Chef Eliane’s kitchen for a cooking lesson- it was way more than that. While learning to make a vegetarian curry from scratch we learned how to use our utensils properly and how to lay out our ingredients ahead of time. Dessert was lemon meringue pie (our request), also from scratch- after cooking we got to share our dishes accompanied by a selection of Dutch wines. This was a super learning experience as well as a warm and cozy gathering in celebration of our accomplishments- Chef Eliane, thank you!
