Top 10 Wine Tours & Tastings in Jerez De La Frontera, Andalucia

July 11, 2021 Diedre Savory

Southwest of Seville, Jerez is a well-heeled place. It’s the home of the Royal Andalusian School of Equestrian Art and its famous dancing horses; if you’re on a budget or can’t be there for a formal performance, it’s worth dropping in to catch a morning training session. The other major reason to visit Jerez is to sample its most famous product—sherry. You can do this at a number of bodegas associated with the world’s best-known brands, including Bodegas Tio Pepe, The House of Sandeman, Jerez, and Pedro Domecq. They’ll soon have you knowing your amontillado from your oloroso. There’s also an Alcázar, dating back to the time of the Almohads, which features a small mosque, now the chapel of Santa María Real.

This is one of the best experiences ever! We arranged it for a friend's birthday surprise. Mahsa was extremely helpful in the run-up to the event and very friendly in all communications. The show itself was outstanding, with Costanza accompanied by an excellent singer and guitarist. We opted for this upgrade and it was definitely worth it. The three performers explained the music in English, asked us if we had any questions, and then taught us a few steps. All in all, an extremely enjoyable hour and would TOTALLY recommend! Olé

Guided tour to a winery and relaxed Sherry and Brandy tasting straight from the barrel. Introduction to the ancient relationship of the Jerezanos to the wine while walking through the historic center to the bodega (about 15 minutes), visiting places that tell us something about that history. At the winery, we learn first hand everything about the production of Sherry and Brandy. Of course, we also take time to taste these fine wines and spirits, most of them directly in the wine cellar. This tour is designed only for small groups – I prefer a familiar atmosphere.

Inclusions: Guided tour and commented wine tasting, Entrance to the winery, 5 different Sherry wines and 1 Brandy, 1 small tapa (e.g. olives), Guide certified in wine tourism (Sherry Council)

A very pleasant tour. We met Andreas in a city centre location, then had a relaxed walk for about 15 minutes to the bodega. During that time Andreas told us something about the history of sherry. At the bodega we looked around the premises and tasted five sherries plus one brandy, some of them drawn from the barrel. The tour really helped our appreciation of the drink, and Andreas' English was very clear. I would suggest this tour needs to be better classified in Trip Advisor. It is listed under 'Tours' but not under 'Food & Drink' so would be easy for someone searching for a sherry experience to miss.

Our tour of the white villages was excellent! Of all our semiprivate tours in Portugal and Spain it was by far the best. I can’t remember our guides name, but the date of the tour was Oct 31st. He had great knowledge of the landscape and culture and was very accommodating. If the company could give me the name from this review that would be wonderful because he was an excellent guide and would love to book with him again. He took us places off the beaten that we would have otherwise not come across.
