Sicily is beautiful and very different. Definitely a place to return. Though would not advise to stay in Giardini Naxos, the only benefit being sandy beaches.

EtnaGrantour is dedicated to those who want to experience the most complete visit possible with only one day available. Generally excursions on Etna are offered in half a day with the visit of a single slope. Etna Grantour allows you to get to know 3 slopes of Etna Park starting from the Etna villages up to an altitude of about 2000 meters. After the "fatigues" of the walk, you will therefore have earned a refreshment stop based on local specialties. In the afternoon we will continue aboard the off-road vehicles for a 4x4 safari on off-road routes. You will also see: - The barren lava fields of ancient and recent castings - The pioneer and endemic vegetation of the lavas - Tourist locations destroyed by eruptions - The side craters extinguished with a button panel - The majestic caldera of the Valle del Bove - A volcanic cave of lava flow (lava tube)
Inclusions: Lunch break with regional specialties, Air-conditioned vehicle
Exclusions: Transfer from Hotel (Extra service starting from € 10)
The trip had few stages, each of them was perfect. Sebastiano was a great guide, he picked us up from our hotel on time, he was full of passion showing us this great Etna and answering our questions. The weather was perfect. We were surprised how green the area of Etna is! She was talking to us, we heard few thunders. Very interesting tour, next time probably we will discover Etna by foot. It is very big area, full of trees.

Unprofessional, unkind and unsafe Long story short: I spent one day arriving at the Etna and they knew it, I paid them with my credit card but lost it on the path to the cable car, they left without me refusing to advance the money so that I would pay them on my way back, and when I finally went through the cable car some minutes later, they refused to wait for me. Fortunately, another tour took me. Before the cable car incident, the Aitne guide wanted to go without me having a helmet and was angry at me for asking for one. I came to do a sunset tour but the bus was late and they did not want to wait for me if I take a taxi anyway. So I came the next morning. We communicated through text messages and the only indication I had received is that the tour begins at 9am. I asked for more details and tried to phone, but had much difficulty to reach them (that morning and before). At some point that morning, I got the French secretary on the phone, and she advised me not to come, even though I was very close, because there would be a high chance they cancel because of the weather. Having made such a long trip to be so close, I came anyway, it was not cancelled. I was there at 8:15, but finally they say the start at 8:30. Giuseppe was the guide. He was shouting at me to hurry, but without telling me clearly what I ought to do. I had to ask several times for him to answer shortly the question and mainly just saying to be quick (about what?!) and even mocking my legitimate questions. I paid at the secretary’s desk, who unlike Giuseppe is professional, and she told me to get a helmet. When I asked Giuseppe, he was unhappy and said I should have asked earlier (but I did ask, he just did not listen!). It means he is supposed to take care of our safety, but did not even bother have me have a mask, and on top of that was angry I asked for one! Before leaving, he said I should not ask too many questions during the tour! Arriving to the cable car, I did not find my credit card. Now I understand that because Giuseppe was shouting at me to be quick, I opened a new bag and quickly put everything I did not need in it, and my card should be inside, but because I was hurried by them to find it quickly I did not think at this new bag who was not under my eyes. Because I did not find it, and I had no cash, I asked the secretary just for the money to be advanced and that I would pay once back, with the card if I find it or with Paypal or else otherwise. But she blankly refused. Even though all of that was because they hurried me and it pushed me to lose it in one of the bags. Giuseppe left without me, but they had another group, and the secretary even indicated to the new guide to refuse this! I said I will ask somebody in the group, but the secretary said I will never find somebody to "give" such amount of money (even though, of course, it was not a gift I was asking!). The secretary then told me they left. Finally, I went through the cable car without their help, and I send a text message to the secretary saying I am on the way so they just have to wait for me a few minutes. She blankly said "no" and then that I should go back! Finally, another tour was at the top, they kindly accepted I join them and I had a wonderful time in the Etna. It is so nice that I did not do the tour with Giuseppe, who, even before beginning, was talking down to me and was telling me "not to ask too many questions" during the tour. The secretary said herself they would reimburse me. When I got back she was not there, and the guide Giuseppe refused at the beginning to give me the money. Then he said he will ask the bar. The other tour who took me was waiting for me, but at least 10/15 minutes later, and in spite of my multiple asks, he was not coming to the bar to do this. I asked another guide of Etna and, finally (!), he did it! Because the other tour was waiting, I did not look enough, and I realized only in another city that there was an additional bag. I asked people to take the bag back from them, and they made no issue regarding this, but I have not heard from any of them regarding my bag with my expensive headphones in it. (If I get my headphones, I will edit this comment accordingly.)

We loved our excursion, it was even better than expected. Our guide Pepe was very knowledgeable and kind. Before booking we were considering going up by ourselves and stop at 2900 meter but are SO GLAD we did this tour. I honestly feel it’s a completely different experience being able to go up to 3300 meters. We could hear the volcano growling and the lava spouting up but didn’t feel unsafe at any point - Pepe was great. I would say the hike was slightly more intens than expected with steep declines but as long as you’re reasonably fit it shouldn’t be an issue - it only made it more fun for us. Highly recommend!!!
