The historic center of Sibiu is still partially enclosed by its original 12th-century medieval walls. Begin your visit in the Piata Mare, home to the Brukenthal Palace, containing the main halls of the Brukenthal National Museum. Descend the Passage of the Stairs down into lower Sibiu, and make sure to be on your best behavior as you cross the Bridge of Lies. A trek in the nearby Făgăraș Mountains will lead you past breathtaking ridges and serene glacial lakes.

The itinerary includes the three emblematic squares of the Old Town, the ruins of the fortified walls and state of the art churches and monuments. The tour follows the historical events in chronological order, starting with the end of the 12th century when the city was founded by the German colonists - known as the Transylvanian Saxons - who settled in this part of the region. This is the perfect tour for curious travelers who want to make the most out of their time in Sibiu.

Together with my wife, I operate small group tours for Australian clients under the Tripwired Tours label. After a comprehensive reconnaissance tour of Romania organized by Diana Condrea of Uncover Romania in 2019, we had a tour group booked for spring 2020 but owing to border closures we had to cancel. Diana has been an absolute jewel throughout this tough time, keeping in touch, keeping us up to date and best of all she has managed to return 100% of the deposit we paid through her to various hotels in Romania. This is a stellar performance, and the kind of measure that restores confidence among travelers in this time of uncertainty. As soon as we are able to take a group to Romania we'll be back there, it's a part of Europe unlike any other, and of course we'll be organizing our tour through Diana.

Adrian was prompt picking us up in the morning as we settled into a pleasant drive to Braşov. Stopped for a quick coffee about halfway. Adrian showed us around Braşov and gave us plenty of time to explore on our own. We then drove to Bran Castle and Adrian was so knowledgeable about the history as he gave us a private tour. Finally we went to Peles Castle and once again astounded us with his depth of knowledge. Amazing day, one a highly recommend.

We went on the Hidden Stories of the Seven Towers tour. I bought the tour through the Questo app and invited the three people I was travelling with to join, so it was exceptional value for 4. This app really gets you to take a good look at your surroundings, something that can be challenging to do when you are trying to keep up with a group. The clues are not so challenging that they take away the fun and leave you frustrated and the information given at each stop is enough to keep your interest without being overly long and boring. This is not for someone who wants an in-depth tour about the history of Sibiu, but if you want to get a feel for the city and have some fun you won't get a much better tour than this.

George is very knowledgeable and has obviously been to the places on this Transylvania trip. Customized our locations to maximize sights and touring for the time we had and where we wanted to see. Definitely a perfect trip that could have only used a couple tweaks. Watch windy roads if anyone gets car sick, let the driver know if there is anything specific your interested in and take lots of pictures, it will be a trip of a lifetime. Also, expect the guide to sometimes be rushed, we didn't expect to be kind of dropped off quite as much in some locations but we adapted to the area. Some of the best sights you will see and George is a very insightful and knowledgeable guide.

The cuisine of southern Transylvania is a mosaic that reflects the multicultural gastronomic and cultural influences of the populations and various trends in society. In our region, we have 11 different cultural influences: on the one hand of those who lived here (Romanians, Saxons, Hungarians, Armenians, Hebrews and Roma), on the other hand influences of surrounding, regional or historical powers and authorities (Austrian, Turkish, Russian, French and Greek). Our walking food tour takes you during the 4.5 hours from the Upper to Lower Old City where you’ll get to taste what makes Sibiu’s cuisine so diverse and unique within Transylvania.
