We took a Colosseum tour with Dennis and it was absolutely fantastic. Three hours passed like one minute. Dennis is a wonderful guide- super knowledgeable and fun. We learned a lot not only about the places that we visited but about the overall history of Rome. Highly highly recommend it!

How about I post a few pictures with some travel advice for going to Rome Italy when we can travel again . We spend 8 days there and tried to see everything and failed. We did see the big sites including St Peters Basilica and Square, the Vatican museum, the Roman Forum, the Palatine Hill, Pantheon, Colosseum, Castel Sant’Angelo, the Trevi Fountain and the Spanish Steps, many churches including Santa Maria Maggiore, St. John Lateran,Basilica di Santa Croce in Gerusalemme and Santa Maria in Trastevere and the Borghese Gardens and Art Museum, But I'm going to add one more place we visited that we really enjoyed. It is Rome's ancient port, Ostia Antica, which is about 15 miles southwest of Rome and easily reached by a short railroad trip to the modern city of Ostia. We had recently been to Pompeii and Herculaneum on a visit to Naples and felt the same sense of awe in Ostia Antica that we had in those two famous Roman sites. At times it felt like an ancient Roman in a toga was going to show up around the next corner. Only about 1/3 of the site has been evacuated but it includes a great theater, a small museum, a temple, remains of an apartment building and warehouses. My advice is to plan an extra day in Rome, go out by train and then have a late lunch is a local restaurant (which we did). Now I'll post s few pictures. A couple from Rome and a couple from Ostia Antica.

We attended Giulio's webinar on mindfulness as a group of photographers and all participating really enjoyed it - a lot to think about, useful links, thought-provoking approach. Giulio is a master of photography who focuses on the experience and the meaning of each photo taken not on the number of followers or clicks which is very rare nowadays. Absolutely recommend it to everyone at any stage of their photography journey!

Relive a piece of ancient Rome history, immersing yourself in this unique archaeological site on an unforgettable tour. The tour allows you to visit in depth a good part of this extraordinary archaeological site that covers about 50 hectares, in which ancient ruins and nature merge to create suggestive landscapes. Founded according to tradition by King Anco Marzio in a strategic area from the military and commercial point of view, Ostia was the first Roman colony, port of the city of Rome at the mouth of the Tiber river. Along the way you will be able to observe the grandiose theater dating back to the Augustan era, the Baths of Neptune and its mythological mosaics, the remains of the imposing Capitolium that towers over the Piazza del Foro and the famous insulae and tabernae. A unique archaeological site in the world where it is really possible to relive the daily life of the ancient Romans in a chronological span of 8 centuries.

We booked this private family guided tour of the site of Ostia Antica for the third day of our 4-day visit to Rome. My husband and I and our four children thoroughly enjoyed the very interesting tour by Stefania (a highly experienced tour guide with a phd in history and a vast, impressive knowledge in the field). Not only did she provide fascinating information to my husband and myself, but she made the tour fun and interactive for the children (aged between 14 and 9). The site of Ostia Antica is absolutely incredible, providing a good insight into daily life of a Roman city in the old times. Having an experienced and articulate guide like Stefania makes all the difference and is a worthwhile spend to got the most out of the visit. Stefania happily overextended the 1,5 hour tour time to provide us with some extra insights and information. Take the train from Porta San Paolo in Rome, the journey is a mere 1,50 euros and lasts about 25-30 minutes. The site is also excellent to beat the crowds (even in non-covid days) as it is all open air and fringed with beautiful big old trees. We caught the train again at Ostia Antica and continued onto the beachside to have an excellent lunch.
