A patchwork of vineyards and olive groves, dotted with whitewashed hill towns and sun-bronzed beaches—Italy’s southern heel has no shortage of photogenic landscapes. There are a few surprises, too, including the baroque city of Lecce and the Itria Valley, with its UNESCO-listed trulli houses.

Messapia Hotel and Resort, a four star hotel located in a panoramic position at only 800 metres from the sea, is harmoniously integrated in the natural scenery of the Mediterranean maquis. This seaside resort, which was in the past a Messapian site and later a little Roman town, overlooks the stunning area of Santa Maria of Leuca on the eastern coast of Salento peninsula called “finis terrae” or “the end of the world” because land seems to finish here, jutting into the waters of the Adriatic and Ionian seas. The hotel includes 110 units, comfortably divided into hotel rooms and different types of apartments in order to satisfy all necessities. The rooms are equipped with well-appreciated services as tv, minibar filled on request, air conditioning, telephone, a safe, en-suite bathroom with shower and hairdryer. Messapia Hotel’s architecture and furnishing aim at respecting the basic elements of Salento environment such as the “Pajare” the Mediterranean maquis, but also materials as the local stone called “carparo” and the rush, chosen to create an extremely simple and functional style and to show the dexterity of local craftsmen. In the hotel rooms, the decors on the bedhead refer to old Messapian symbols such as the sun, the sea and the wind. Distinctive and unusual is the building that houses the hall, the restaurant and the main facilities. Its structure perfectly reflects the motif of a fortified farm-house or “masseria fortificata” an old architectural structure complete with a tower which was used in the past as a defence system. The new management has continued improving already existing facilities but also introducing new ones, such as a beauty centre with pure relaxation treatments provided by skilled physiotherapists and body care ones made by qualified beauticians; a hairdresser; a green area among pajare and centuries- old olive trees to be used as a solarium and children play-area; a removed art gallery; a gift shop; a new panoramic lobby for aperitifs, well equipped with rhum and Cuban cigers; a pizzeria; a restaurant; a roof garden used for themed supper nights and special events or parties on request surrounded by a stunning view.
Stayed here for six days in August of 2019. I highly recommend you are able speak and understand Italian to be able to communicate with the staff. Thank goodness my husband speaks fluent Italian because my Italian was not helping me. lol. The parking attendant was beyond rude. It is an extremely long walk rolling luggage on uneven pavement with a lot of stairs from the parking lot to the lobby, and then back to your villa. Hold off on bringing your luggage until you know where your room will be located. The lobby, restaurants, pool, and main areas were nice and seemed clean. However don't let that fool you, the rooms are very old, very dated decor, and tiny. The terrace or patio is a good size. Our room was not very clean at all. The rooms have a A/C unit in one window in the main room. The air doesn't make it into the bedroom. The window was broke and would not seal or stay 100% closed which made it miserable to sleep in the heat. You are required to wear an ugly swimmers cap in the swimming pool. Even bald men have to wear them. However, an extremely hairy chest and body was acceptable. Does not make any sense at all. They don't offer pool towels willingly and when you ask for towels the staff seemed very annoyed. Although I like the area and the proximity to our other activities/destinations, I would not stay there again.

Amazing stay here for 2 nights. The staff go above and beyond to help you and are so friendly. They helped us rent a car and were always contactable via watsapp. The resort itself is beautiful and serene and the room was 5 star. Free bikes to cycle 5 min to the old town were very useful. There is free parking should you rent a car also. 5 stars overall and would highly recommend.

We were accommodated in a traditional guest house. The inside was very well decorated with vintage and traditional look, but fresh furniture and a modern bathroom. The house was situated in the residential and very quiet side of the area with traditional houses, but very close to the commercial/touristic city center (5 min. walk) Hosts were very welcoming and friendly and gave us directions on what to visit, while leading us to the house. Overall a great experience.

The borgo is a beautiful and quaint renovation, with all the great amenities you would expect from this kind of property. The rooms are clean and spacious (ours even had a kitchen), pool area is quite nice and pretty and it’s location makes it a great spot to enjoy a Beach Club during the day while exploring Lecce in the evening. Another great feature is that everything they serve is fresh… either from their gardens or from local bakeries (the bread is actually warm when they serve). Finally, the staff is super-friendly and Alessandro is an amazing host, always available and helpful with tips and bookings!

This is a very nice and small hotel in the heart of Bari. The whole hotel looks like it was build just yesterday. Therefore, the rooms are very nice, clean and charming. The breakfast is also very nice with a touch of local food. The director and staff is very welcoming. Great Hotel in working distance to the water and old town.

B&B Charming trulli is a complex of trulli located among the beautiful streets of historic centre of alberobello . Trulli are very cozy, elegant and refined, furnished with a minimal taste Mediterranean-style, typical of the area. The reception is located next to the Trullo Sovrano, near the most important monuments of Alberobello . Guests are fully taken care of and pampered even better than that offered by the activities continuously assisted by information material made in an appropriate and tailored to their needs ; breakfast rich and abundant in international style is offered in its restaurant trattoria TERRA MADRE, with organic garden, where guests can also have lunch or dinner or to make cooking courses with vegetables picked from their garden at the back of the restaurant: possibility to use a free computers and printers inside the reception.
I had an excellent breakfast, probably the best in over two weeks travelling around Italy. The town was average though imho. The rooms were clean and the under floor heating was especially welcomed. I recommend charming Trulli

We loved our stay at Casa Di Mamma. It was cosy, modern, clean and comfortable. We loved the bed! And everything about it - pillows, mattress, everything, it was really comfortable! The location is very good, 5min walk from a station, where you can take the train to airport, 15-20min walk to the old city and the central station. We totally recommend!

We stayed here on the ‘Romantic Escape’ package offered on their website. Pros: - The receptionist on the Saturday evening was pleasant, welcoming and professional. We couldn’t fault her. Thank you. - The waiter for dinner was also professional and carried a pleasant smile. - Nice Turkish bath. - Beautiful building and setting/location. - Quiet in the evening - Dinner quality was ok. - Overall, good value for money. Cons: - Advertised as a 4 star resort - but DEFINITELY NOT 4 stars, more like 3 stars. - Dated/Old fashioned furniture - Very unpleasant sewerage smell in communal area on first floor. - Small bedrooms - Empty mini bar in room. - No bathroom set (toothbrush, tooth paste, etc). - Not everything functional in Spa and also too small with too many people. - Ridiculously small changing rooms - 50 min massage was only 30 mins but was not actually a professional massage. (€10 discount seemed a little disrespectful to be honest). - 90 mins wellness path was far from 90 mins. - Staff at Spa were quite unprofessional at times and seemed to rush people. Overall, the main complaint I can make about this establishment is that it is ultimately advertised falsely. No one can argue that it is good value for money but it would feel better if it were actually advertised for the level of quality it actually is, which is 3 stars. On this occasion, I was looking for a 4 star experience but unfortunately I should have looked elsewhere. However, if I were looking for a 3 star experience I would have been quite happy. PS. - Save your money and don’t get the massage!
