Room was kind of dirty, they do not wipe the floor for quite some time, spider nets everywhere, towels were ripped off. This hotel is placed about 10 km away from the Chambord castle which is very convenient. We got a nice apartment with a little kitchen that had a fridge, toaster, coffee maker, etc but we didn't have the time to use it as we only stayed for 2 days. Breakfast was ok, with ham and cheese, cereals, yogurt, coffee, milk, croissants and pancakes. Just 2 minutes walk there is a French restaurant opened just for lunch and dinner. Also, close by there is a chocolate artisan factory.

On the edge of the Royal Forest extends our Domain of the Val de Loire, with its small independent cottages, private areas that contrast with the magnitud of our public areas, the pool and its many reception halls... the hotel is perfect to visit the Châteaux de la Loire with family or in group, only 1h30 from Paris.
On a train holiday around France we were recommended this place...big mistake. It’s a 13.50 Euro+ taxi back into town to see the sights. There is no bus service or alternative to get in and out. We were booked in for three nights. Apart from a grand entrance way it’s run down and dirty. Units are up to 300m from bar/dining area and while clean inside on the outside looked dirty, lacking maintenance and run down. Weeds everywhere, in the gardens, under the stairs, paths etc..the metre high scotch thistles were in fact the largest plants in the garden! I have since read another review describing it looking like abandoned soviet prison camp..very accurate! Having arrived late we were told we had to book for dinner. We arrived 10 minutes early for dinner and despite the bar/ dining area being totally empty we’re told we could not sit down untill our booking time of 7pm. When I asked if we could get a drink while we waited...answer not till 7pm. Bar carpet was dark colour but appeared very dirty and certainly not vacuumed since god knows when. The meal was appalling the fries with the meal wereblackened greasy and were limp as noodles. Breakfast in the morning was horrifying. The fruit salad looked like it was made a week ago, the fruit going black! BUT it was the light coloured carpet that end of the room that truly shocked! I have never seen anything like it(see photos) we checked out immediately (no refund) but happy to do our money to save our health. You wont believe the pics

Everything was exceptional! Warm welcome when we have just arrived, detailed explanations about sightseeings around and restaurants, perfect breakfast with cheese and home-made jam, well equipped room with everything needed! We felt like at parent's home: we had discussions, our kids played with the hosts, together with other guests we had a glass of wine on the terrasse with home-made snacks. Thanks you very much, Ginette!

This is such an amazing place. Bruno and his wife make you feel more like family friends than guests as they welcome you into their beautiful home. The rooms are beautifully furnished and the beds lovely and comfortable. The grounds are beautiful and the food excellent. Bruno clearly loves his wine and will happily proscribe some of the area’s loveliest wines! The house itself is the one described in Le Grand Meaulners and to walk under the lime trees is to walk in Alain Fontaine’s own footsteps. Worth a detour!

Breakfast was a choice of pastries, omelettes, fruit and scrambled eggs ,all delicious .The town centre is a short walk away . Just perfect.

We spent 3 lovely nights in Host Sebastian's home. It is full of wonderful collections he has brought back from his many travels. There is so much to see. We were on our rattly old motorbike and we were able to lock it away in the garage over nights which was great. He put us up at the top of the house with 2 rooms to spread out in. Lovely comfy bed, spotlessly clean. Sebastian cooked for us the first night along with another couple. It was top restaurant fare, and despite our school french and the other couples school English it was a delightful evening due to our host. The area has much to see, and he was so helpful in helping with planning the days. Even going out of his way to offer to take us in his car as it rained one day! Breakfast if lovely fresh breads yogurts and fruits from Sebastian's garden. If you are visiting this area don't miss a stay here. He is doing up a flat and gite in this small street so go on the site. You won't be disapointed.

We truly enjoyed a relaxing and wonderful week end. The Domaine is like a shrine for love. superb lawn, colorful flowers, superb indoor swimming pool, warm welcome and for a nice price for value(116€ including 2 bkfst ). ask preferably for room 7 or 5 rather than 6. (nice and cosy but smaller than others). Traditional Breakfast is also great (not "continental with buffet). with fresh home made croissants and bread, fresh fruits, brioche and yogurts. What a lovely place 50mn away from Paris. we will come again

Revisited Rancay after a couple for years. It is as I remembered it. Unique atmosphere and style. Very friendly, courteous. Superb rooms from a different century. Excellent food. Not your standard first class international hotel, something different which makes it part of a holiday.
