This café is located in Akasya Park, across from Akropolis Guest House and not far from the Red Hall Basilica. There are tables provided inside a kind of glasshouse interior, or the better option is to sit outside in the park on one of the colorful garden tables provided. The menu is currently only in Turkish but the staff are happy to translate and they were very accomodating with suggesting vegetarian options.I had a cheese and potato gözleme and a shephards salad. Both were fresh and tasty and cost ~30TL.This café has wifi and the park has play equipment for children. The café is also associated with a local art program. We thank you. We will have an English menu next year. If your path falls, we wait again. :)

We saw the food in the windows and decided this is where we wanted to lunch. It is the type of restaurant where various dishes are made and you choose from what they have, like in a canteen. Everything looked fresh and appetising. I had baked sardines which came in a sauce and my partner had Aubergine stew. With the main dish we had rice and salad, water to drink and bread. We also had some sort of honey denched desset, a bit like Rum Baba. The total bill was 23TL (less than £8.00). Not just a good price but tasty food with a home made feel. The staff were friendly and helpful.

This is an old style cafe where you pick out what you want from a menu that varies daily. The food is home made, very fresh and flavorful. No frills, just a great local cafe that was full of the local folks. Had an eggplant-spicy meat dish that was great. Everything looked good and my wife loved it. If you are in this are - GO!

The average tourist would probably walk right past this place but that would be a mistake. We were noticed the Tripadvisor sticker in the window and decided to try it for lunch. We were the only tourists and, although no-one spoke English, we made ourselves understood. The staff were helpful and friendly. I'm sure they went and got the tea we asked for from a nearby tea shop. The food was simple but very good - meatballs and salad with lots of bread followed by some fruit.

We were staying across the road and our hotel owner recommended Akropolis. In fact, he and his wife dined there with friends on that same evening we did in the spacious lovely garden. All the mezze we ordered (see photo) were fantastic, in particular the memorable eggplant with cheese as well as the spicy yogurt. We also enjoyed our main course of köfte. The mixed grill looked very good as well. The garden was such a pleasant place to sit and talk for an hour after dinner. Would definitely return here! You'll note the exterior of the restaurant (photo) is also quite attractive -- they even have pomegranates -- and there is actually a model of the Temple of Zeus in the garden!

I visited Cigirtma Evi every day that I was in Bergama. Don't let the storefront mislead you - do come here! This is a classic "lokanta" (think small, neighborhood cafeteria) diner, where you'll find dishes that exceed expectations. The semizotu (akin to spinach) and borek (savory, flaky pastry) were delish, as was the hashasli kek (poppy seed cake), which stole my heart. Even as the place was bursting with activity (catering orders) on the eve of Seker Bayrami (Eid), the lovely owner was unfailingly gracious and kind. She even gifted me with a half-dozen sarma (rice/currant-stuffed grape leaves).Centrally located, and a great place to have lunch after the Asklepion.
