Avanos (Greek: Άβανος (f. sg.)) is a town and district of Nevşehir Province in the Central Anatolia region of Turkey, located 18 km (11 mi) north of Nevşehir, the capital city of the province. It is situated within the historic and tourist region of Cappadocia. According to 2000 census, population of the district is 35,145 of which 12,288 live in the town of Avanos. The district covers an area of 994 km (384 sq mi), and the average elevation is 920 m (3,018 ft), with the highest point being Mt. İsmail Sivrisi at 1,756 m (5,761 ft).

Cavusin has not much to do nor see. After trekking from Göreme and visiting Cavusin castle, we stopped for lunch and were pleasantly surprised by the food and service. I thought that this restaurant was extremely good value and service was efficient. We had a nice mezze mix plus some good veal kebabs and excellent chips, plus bottled water, and all for 39 lire which was a real baragain. Tea was given at the end of the meal which was nice.thank you :)

The place was well designed, clean and staff was sympathetic as well as handy. Food was delicious, meat in pots was the specialty but salads and mantı were also good choice. It is not in the center but worth finding the place by the advise of a local pottery shop.

We were brought here by our tour guide after arriving in Cappadocia via plane. It had been a long day, one flight after another. And the hot meals we had there were the perfect welcome for our first day in Turkey. My brother and I had grilled wings, husband had meatballs and I forgot what my parents had. But all in all, everything was freshly cooked, delicious and amazing. The bathroom was clean and cool too! Iâd love to go back there someday!thank you so much again we wait..

We are dinner on the enclosed terrace of this restaurant which had fantastic views of the Capadoccia rock formations. I chose the lamb shank for my meal, and it was delicious and the meat just fell off the bone. My wife had the beef rib which was a huge chunk of meat attached to two rib bones that was enough for leftovers. Both of our meals came with rice and ?. Service was excellent, and it worth a visit here if you are in this small town.

This is a women's co-operative operation. The local ladies work together to create delicious local dishes, thus liberating them from their homes and possibly getting them into work, with others in similar situations - widows, single ladies etc. They work together, and they are happy to let you watch them in the kitchen and other prep areas, making pastry, fillings, putting dishes together, everything. Fresh, fragrant, from scratch - simply delicious, deliciously simple.This is a great place to go to get simple, well prepared Turkish food, at cheap prices. The menu is simple and has pictures and english translation. The ladies were lovely!

Uranos Sarikaya Restaurant, built into e rocks of a mountain cave, has a musician playing the Kanun (a Turkish musical instrument resembling the zither) just in the middle of the restaurant as it serves good traditonal Turkish food and local Cappadocian cuisine. Very busy place catering to mainly tour groups visiting the area around like Devrent Valley w its incredible pink hued rock formations and geological anomalies formed by centuries of wind & several other Fairy Chimneys. A cool eating place with friendly staff but lighting was dim. Worth a visit.

This Turkish restaurant is tucked away in one of the alleys of Avanos. For lunch, we had tarhana soup and cacik as appetizer followed by the main course which was Testi chicken kebap (Dana yada Tavuk). Service was fast and efficient. The interiors of the restaurant are decorated. tastefully and seating was comfortable. Entry to the restaurant is through a corridor where antique items like furniture & valve radios are kept on display.

I had one of the best Turkish breakfasts at this restaurant this morning. The food is absolutely delicious and the staff are overwhelmingly friendly and kind! Special thanks to Atif for making our experience amazing! We will definitely be coming back here everyday. Best restraint in Cappadocia.

We went to this restaurant on the evening of my husband's 70th birthday. The restaurant is part of the Museum Hotel and is very grand but not stuffy.
