We reopen on Tuesday 27th April and are open from 10am to 5pm. Please check our website for our opening dates throughout the season from April to December In line with current Covid restrictions one person/group is allowed into the centre at a time. There is an exterior covered 'waiting area'. For the foreseeable future there will be a 'look, don't touch' policy in regard to all exhibits and artefacts. Unfortunately we cannot offer any of our hands-on children's activities at present. All visitors must wear a mask/face covering when in the centre & maintain social distancing to comply with Scottish government regulations. You will still be able to watch the wildlife on the feeders, pick-up lots of great information about things to see and do & buy anything from a map to a fluffy pine marten in our shop. We look forward to seeing you soon. Pete and Oly Please post your images & comments on our Facebook Group, visit our Facebook page & find Argyll Beaver Centre on Twitter @ Instagram.
We had an excellent week in the Knapdale area, relaxing, walking and wildlife watching. Before we arrived we contacted the Argyll Beaver Centre for tips and local information to help us enjoy our holiday, and we got a very full and informative response. We visited several times and found the staff very helpful, friendly and passionate. Definitely worth visiting if you enjoy wildlife, and in particular if you'd like to find out more about how the beaver trials in Scotland are faring.

AN UNDERGROUND WORLD ON A SPECTACULAR SCALE. Cruachan is a place like no other, journey deep into the heart of this mountain to discover how we convert the power of water into electricity. An experienced guide will lead you inside the power station to help you understand how we can create 440MW of power in just 2 minutes! Our interactive FREE EXHIBTION is a great way for all ages to further understand how today's energymix is made up. The cafe and gift shop are available for anyone who just wants to stop in for some light refreshments and retail therapy.
We were visiting the Cruachan Power Station Visitor Center and had the privilege of a tour of the power station and tunnels as part of our business visit. An outstanding feat of engineering and a great story of the tunnel tigers I would recommend this visit to anyone visiting the area and whether you are interested in machinery or simply the beautiful Loch Awe area its a day out for the family.

Have been here many times over the years and always had delicious food. Safe to say we weren't disappointed! Can't wait to come back next year (when hopefully the living building will be open again)

Oban Phoenix Cinema is a community owned cinema which reopened in 2012 after a community campaign to save our cinema. The venue has been upgraded to provide a cinema which you will all want to visit again and again.
This community run cinema is an absolute gem. It is delightfully lo-fi with 2 screens that, importantly, both feature excellent screens and sound. They have big plans to continue the redevelopment and renovation so get along and support them by buying tickets and plenty of popcorn. They have a great choice of films - all the blockbusters and a decent array of ‘art house’ content (and the likes of NT and RSC Live also). A great experience and wouldn’t hesitate to go back if in the area again.

This is a handy visitor centre. It is on the seafront so it has a fantastic view. The staff were nice and the gifts and post cards were great.

This is a great centre with lots of information, video displays and a lovely shop with local products and souvenirs. Also good for a toilet stop when out a walk in the town!

Interesting visit to Cruachan Power Station including a mini-bus trip inside the Mountain to overlook the main generating hall.A nice exhibition building precedes a trip (fee required) into the mountain with a commentary along the way and of course questions can be asked and hopefully answered.Outside weather permitting there is opportunities to enjoy the surroundings. The Dam and water supply are some distance from this location.
