If you head for the hills in the state you’ll end up in the northern sector where the inspiring mountains and attractions like the U.S. Space and Rocket Center in Huntsville, the Blue & Gray Museum in Decatur and the Ave Maria Grotto in Cullman represent the diversity of experiences available in the area. In the middle of the state you’ll find Birmingham, an urban center with great attractions and museums, and Tuscaloosa, the quintessential college town and home to the University of Alabama. For beach lovers, sandy destinations like Dauphin Island near Mobile, Gulf Shores and Orange Beach offer beautiful beaches, superb golf, fantastic seafood restaurants and heaping helpings of Southern hospitality.
For those who love to chase the white dimpled ball, Alabama offers one of the best golf values anywhere. The Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail, a collection of 468 holes at 11 different sites across the state, features top-notch, championship style courses at affordable rates.

Beautiful facility and the staff were very friendly and helpful. I would recommend anyone visiting Gulf Shores to stop by the Gulf Shores Welcome Center and pick up brochures on local attractions, restaurants and lodging. Their friendly staff will be more than happy to accommodate your travel needs!!

We had a very good experience at the welcome center. We stopped in on our first day of vacation. The woman who assisted us was very nice and answered all of our questions. They are even giving out welcome bags with Orange Beach face masks!

As we headed south from Montgomery, we took a short detour to see the Lowndes Interpretive Center devoted to Civil Rights & the March from Selma to Montgomery, AL. The Center is located about 25 miles west of Montgomery on US80. It is easy to find. The Center has quite a collection of memorabilia and multiple displays showcasing the march.

MAKE IT YOUR FIRST STOP! While in the Huntsville/Madison area visit one of area Visitor Centers for information, discount attraction, sports, arts & entertainment coupons.
We e mailed and called Tourism Alabama but they never sent us anything. Then the state visitor center at the Tenessee/Alabama border was baricaded/closed!! We just about gave up on Alabama. Make sure you go to the Huntsville Visitor Information Center on Church Street. If you are lucky you will be met by Yvonne or Brenda. These ladies are a fountain of information about not just the Huntville area but also other parts of Alabama.we consider ourselves fortunate to have made their aquantance.

Got talked into going to Escape Dothan by my brother, and I'm glad I did! Had lots of fun, and really enjoyed the challenge with a few family members all working together. I highly recommend the "13th Floor" escape room, and looking forward to trying our luck in one of the other rooms soon!

This visitors center is beautifully landscaped. Just walking around the outside is a pleasure. The inside is full of knowledgeable people and even more full of information. Very pleasant visit.

Since 1922, the Demopolis Public Library’s mission has been to provide materials and services that meet the individual, educational, and professional needs of the community. We offer free WiFi, public computers and printers, books, DVD’s, eBooks, and programs. The library is housed in historic downtown Demopolis in a furniture store that was built in 1924 by the Ulmer family.
