Great little ferry and of course “free” with Japan Rail Pass which is recommended for anyone travelling to Japan.

If visiting Miyajima Island when in Hiroshima, the ropeway is a must do! We found it on a brochure in the arrival dock of Miyajima and it was well worth it. There is a short walk to a shuttle bus that will take you to the ropeway station, but the walk to the ropeway station is not bad. Provided it's a clear day, the views are beautiful from ropeway and the viewing platforms. The ropeway is in two parts or there is a mountain hike trail available. We got a round trip ticket for the ropeway and the gorgeous views from all sides at the top were well worth it.

Known where I’m from as a tram. If you are staying here then the likelihood of using this transportation is high. Very affordable. Remember, you only pay when you get off unless there is a conductor on duty during busy periods.
