Although Tucson's fantastic weather, national parks and forests and desert provide the perfect environment for tons of outdoor recreational activities, this city of half a million people also has its share of history and culture. With a history that goes back much further than many of its southwestern neighbors, Tucson boasts turn-of-the-century architecture, historic neighborhoods, museums and the Mission San Xavier del Bac, a still-functioning 18th-century mission considered one of the most beautiful in the U.S. Mexican and Native American influences are pervasive, and the city has a distinctly Western flavor. There's also a college-town atmosphere, thanks to the University of Arizona, which has its own share of museums and a science center. Whether golfing at a world-class golf resort, horseback riding, hiking in the wilderness, discovering desert flora and fauna at the Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum or exploring pre-Columbian and other art at the Tucson Art Museum, you'll have a mind-boggling array of things to do.

We have just returned from a wonderful day out with Tim to Mount Lemmon. He is charming and fun and his van is very comfortable with a stepstool for those like me who cannot climb into a shuttle. Wish more shuttle owners would be so considerate. Part of the trip was an audio tour so you learn a lot about the fabulous area you are visiting. We also went with him to the Desert Museum. He has a range of tours you can go on but will try to tailor a tour for your interests. His prices are very reasonable too. Best to call him as his website is undergoing some improvement at the moment. Thank you Tim for a golden day out.

I contacted Jon because I ve a mobility handicap and am not able to hike long or do difficult climbs or step over rocks. Still we wanted to learn how to survive the desert. Jon said: No problem ! I can teach you a whole lot just a few yards from the parkingspot. Well, he wasn't joking when he said that. We stopped on a pull out on the Catalina Highway and right away he taught us about the Mesquite tree, the cholla's, yucca's, soto's etc etc. Nothing he said was too long or too detailed. He let us taste all different kind of plants and cacti. He was very thoughtful of the temperature and our comfort. We moved our cars several times to stay as cool as possible. In another place he let us make rope from a yucca leave, showed us how to collect water in different ways and how to cool down or get warm in the desert. Very hands on and very interesting ! Everything he says makes so much sence that it is easy to remember. He has been living on an apache reservation and tought kids there all of his skills....that about says it I think about his knowledge. Again we moved and with the Soto leaves we collected we weaved a basket (or attemted to weaved hahaha) He prepared a whole lot of stuff for us to try out as well. We made a container out of the flower stem of a yucca, tried to make fire with rocks, which he collected ahead of time. He even collected rocks that we might find in the Netherlands, he was so attentive the whole time.... He lets you try everything you want to, fire by rocks, magnifier, lens and than by sticks. And yes, my husband made fire by rubbing a wooden stick on a wooden plank. Jon also prepared this for us and we could take everything we made home with us. He even lent us knives, since we are not allowed to have any at home this size. Than he mentioned he teaches shooting as well ! Wow, we are not allowed to have firearms in the Netherlands and ofcourse we would like to shoot. So, although we didn't speak about it when we booked our survival day he still took us to a place on the mountain were we could shoot ! He gave great instructions, was very serious about it of course. I shot once and was impressed by the power of the Glock 9mm it scared me. My husband however was unstoppable ! Boys will be boys and Jon and he had fun shooting water bottles from the rocks. So, what ever you like to learn or do in the desert, hyper fit or office fit or even handicapped like me, Jon will show you how to survive or better said let you experience yourself how to survive in the desert. Book him ! He is great

Travel back in time to one of the most famous Old West towns with a day on the streets of Tombstone. The home of the famous OK Corral lets you experience the lives of outlaws, businessmen, miners, and cattlemen who flocked to the area for a chance to strike it rich on the frontier. A ride straight from your hotel takes you out of the city for your visit to the historic town. While you're in Tombstone, pay a visit to the original gathering spots for outlaws and gunmen, like Big Nose Kate's Saloon and the Bird Cage Theatre, which earned a reputation as the wickedest nightspot between Basin Street and the Barbary Coast. True to the reputation of the Wild West, gunfights and stand-offs were a regular occurrence, and many of their victims are buried at the infamous Boot Hill Cemetery—named for the men who died and were buried, with their boots still on. On your way back, visit the White Dove of the Desert; one of the Southwest's best-preserved missions at San Xavier del Bac.

"My advice is to start your trip with Priscilla to get the ‘lay of the land’ and go back to the areas you liked during your tour. That way you will know which restaurants and neighborhoods to go to and the rest of your trip will be better planned.." -Jeff NOTE: this is an outdoors tour. It is Covid safe, lots of social distancing and walking space My tour is something you will not find online when you Google things/activities to do in Tucson. It is a list of things that make Tucson special, interesting and sometimes weird. There’s nothing like a local’s insight and that’s what my tour is all about!! We will go to historic sights and neighborhoods, go try the best tacos and Sonoran hot dogs in town; all while leaning about Tucson history and interesting architecture! *food not included in tour price, bring cash or credit *if theres a conflict with scheduling please contact me for availability
Inclusions: A printed list of recommended places and restaurants to visit for the rest of your trip.
