Depart from Huaraz to Caraz the last city of Callejon de Huaylas valley and then we will take the unpaved road until the trek starts (Laguna Paron), in total about 3 hours with the final parts within the conservation area of Huascarán National Park. On the shore of Laguna Paron is the parking point of our vehicle. The trail starts along the northern shore of Laguna Parón until near the end of the lake, then we will take a path that heads towards the valley towards Artesonraju (also known as “Paramount”). In this part we will be crossing several rivers and streams to reach the path that leads to the Artesoncocha lake (4,290m).
