Explore Swakopmund with your private tour guide. Swakopmund is a German settlement on the coast of Namibia from the 1892's to just before the first world war. Situated 30km north of Walvis Bay in the mouth of the Swakop river, this town has really beautiful surroundings. Light-heartedly referred to as "Little Germany" by many travelers, the building style in the old part of town is distinctly German.  Gaze at the majestic dune belt along the way to Swakopmund, with a short visit to Dune 7 where you can touch and see the sand up close.  Once in Swakopmund, as you have a wide variety of things to do. You can choose between the Railway Station, the Steam Tractor "Martin Luther", the Swakopmund museum at the lighthouse, or the Krystall Gellerie, home of the largest quartz crystal.  Please remember that if you want to buy any curios in Swakopmund that you will need a copy of your passport Last on your agenda is the coastal highway It's quite a memorable place, so bring your camera!

Pelican Point is a great place to see marine life in Walvis Bay—a colony of thousands of Cape Fur seals makes its home there year-round. This tour takes you along the lagoon and salt mines to the point in a 4x4 vehicle and provides the kayaking know-how to cruise the protected part of the peninsula near the colony. For those who love to be outdoors, surrounded by animals, and without causing explicit alterations to the routine of these natural creatures. Pelican Point provides a home to thousands Cape Fur seals, lots of Heaviside's and Bottle-nose dolphins, black-backed jackals, flamingos and pelicans

We (4 adults including 3 photographers) had planned 2 days touring with Sandwich Harbour Offroad, a day in the Namib Desert & a trip to Sandwich Harbour. Unfortunately, weather delayed our cruise ship by a day, so we only had less than 1 full day to explore around Walvis Bay/Swakopmund. Michael Green was wonderfully accommodating to customize our itinerary & our driver/guide, Leon, was a treasure! They created a custom combo so we were able to drive to Sandwich Harbour & cruise the dunes overlooking the Atlantic in the morning, then get a brief sample of the Namib Desert & Swakopmund in the afternoon. On top of a dune we were treated to a variety of homemade local foods plus sparkling wine & beer-all tasty & beautifully served on white linen! We were thrilled to see flamingoes, seals, jackals, ostrich & a snake eagle. I highly recommend Sandwich Harbour Offroad - Thanks Michael & Leon!

Local Experirnce in Swakopmund ,Mondesa was the exiled neighborhood where blacks were sidelined during apartheid , while whites and rich were concentrated in the city center. Although the system of racial segregation was abolished in 1991, it is still possible today to observe the traces of this dark part of history. You will stroll through the streets of Mondesa, discovering its culture. You will see the kindness of the people, who will not hesitate to welcome you and invite you to taste one of their craft beers or some of their typical dishes , such as mopane worms (grilled caterpillars). During the visit, you can enjoy other traditional dishes, so that your cultural immersion is complete. In addition, you can interact with locals and immerse yourself in the heart of African culture and history. You will have the opportunity to learn a few words in khoe-khoe , the local language, and understand the meaning of the term " buntu" . Do you know why he is so important today in Africa?

Inclusions: We do provide lunch or dinner depending on the tour you have chosen as if you do the morning tour this will be lunch but for afternoon tour will be dinner

We were tired from extensive touring (three travelers) and thought of skipping this township visit. Are we glad we decided to join Nande Junia's 1/2 day explorer tour! Our guide was kind, informative, and had planned an interesting visit to one of Namibia's townships. "Township" being the local explanation in Africa for a town/village of minimally economic development. For the poorest citizens, basically with outdoor plumbing, very small living area, and few services. Here in Namibia, in this community, we discovered that Swakopmund was well maintained and harbored many interesting sights. Entrepreneurship all around, from the ladies who taught "clicking" to tourists to the a capella choir, singing for us during our homemade lunch in another house, we spent 4 hours being captivated by this slice of Africa. I recommend heartily this tour group. First-class all the way.

Sandwich Harbour is a natural untouched beauty that many has heard about, but very few have ever gotten the opportunity to visit. The first stop is at a point along the lagoon where the masses of flamingoes can be viewed. A short drive further we ascend the well known Salt pan dune to the east of the Salt works to show the clients a top view of the alluring “pink water” in the salt pans. We continue our tour and eventually enter the Namib Naukluft Park at the northern border where it meets the Atlantic Ocean. A drive along the beach follows where the occasional Seal or Jackal is observed close to the beach. This drive brings us to the point where sand and sea meets and tides permitting we will enter towards Sandwich Harbour. If the tide is high we enter the dunes and drive to a high point where Sandwich Harbour can be seen from the top of the dunes along the Ocean. An exciting drive through the dunes follows where the magnificent splendor of the dunes of the Namib surrounds us.

Inclusions: Since we are doing an excursion in the desert, we have snacks, drinks and a small picnic included, which will be enjoyed during the tour.

An early start and a drive to the base of Pelican Point Kayaking. We met our guide and the rest of our group there. The drive to beach includes a drive through the salt pans and our guide gave us some background on the area. The pans are beautiful and were one of the reasons we chose Namibia as a holiday destination. We brought waterproof jackets with us as advised and you’ll be glad you did as you will get a little wet out there. You’ll get changed into some waterproofs and be given a life vest. I’m not the happiest of people on or in the water but the whole setup is designed to make you feel relaxed and excited about getting onto the water. When you are out there the seals are super friendly and inquisitive. They’ll come over for a closer look and a bite of your paddle! You’ll spend an hour or so on the water and then come back to land for a bite to eat. Seeing all the seals together on the beach is pretty cool and looks very much like the documentaries you might watch. On the drive back to the base loads of animals were pointed out to us and we drove a little off road to get a closer look at some of them. Fantastic first morning of our trip and I’m so glad that we did it!

Evert picked my wife and me up at our accomodation. As we had no coffee he took us to the harbour to enjoy the place, the conversation with Evert and the first coffee in the morning. The tour was awesome. We drove past salt pans, saw flamingos, enjoyed the beautiful colours. Evert is an experienced driver and we felt safe up and down the dunes. We could get the full experience and see the amazing views. We stopped for a lovely picnic t Sandwich Harbour (prepared by Evert and his wife) before heading back on a different route. We can absolutely recommend this tour, especially with Evert.
