My girlfriends and I had great day with Grape Escapes! The pick-up at our hotel in Halifax was very convenient. Our driver JD, was fantastic! I loved her knowledge of wines and her energy. I would highly recommend this tour. We had lovely visits with the wineries, and a lovely lunch at the Church Brewery. Everything was very well organized, even if things are a bit different because of Covid. Thank you for a memorable day, during a pandemic.

Fantastic tour! Loved everything about; from the comfy car ride to the amazing stories and historical details about the area. Enjoyed at great lunch in Fisherman's Cove in Dartmouth. Made a few stops and got to walk around some of the historical sites and monuments. Paul was an absolute delight. Would highly recommend and we will definitely be going on another tour next time we are in town!

The best part of this tour is the down-home hospitality Sam tries to deliver with every ride. There is no real set schedule, so we have a bit more flexibility in how we do things. Sam will help you from the time you first write to the time she hugs you goodbye at the last stop and beyond if you're traveling to anywhere else that she is familiar with. Get to know other travelers and share once in a lifetime experiences along the way.

We went for a round trip drive on Alternative Routes back in May. Sam was attentive and easy to deal with when we booked our journey, and friendly and knowledgeable when we met up to drive around southern Nova Scotia. She knows lots of people in each of the towns we stopped at, and you can tell that she really cares about the communities and introducing her customers to what they have to offer. We had a great time and great conversation on the way back. We were very pleased to have booked with her, and would recommend Alternative Routes to anyone visiting Halifax.

Driver/guide (Colleen) excellent ... bus (Se-bus-tian) comfortable - USB ports for charging phones/cameras would be nice ???? - water ????. Wineries: Benjamin-Bridge excellent in every way .. Genny superb (knowledgeable, clear, timing perfect!), wines wonderful, ambience the best (under construction but still enjoyable). Luckett Winery great as well .. location, product selection and ambience perfect. Wine steward not tops .. upset with me as I accidentally broke a glass and not a lot of commentary. Pours much more “conservative” than BB. Lunch, however, superb with generous sandwiches, salad and nice glass of wine or beer. Nice addition to see and chat with Pete Luckett ???? Gaspereau Winery: nice but not as impressed with this stop. Wine steward rushed us and we felt like we were bothering her. Pours were the stingiest of the tour. Nice room out back which we were not taken to or shown .. that would have been a great place to have a tasting instead out out in the cold by a metal table.

Explore the famous Three Sisters rock formation by sea kayak! Spectacular Cape Chignecto Wilderness Park has been rated the number one kayaking destination in Nova Scotia by guidebooks and magazines alike. Don't miss the opportunity to paddle this incredibly scenic and wild coastline with an experienced, informative and fun guide. Launching from the red sands at Spicer's Cove, the cliffs become increasingly dramatic as you paddle further along the park's shoreline, and you might spot seals and eagles along the way. The highlights of this tour include the famous Three Sisters sea stacks, a natural amphitheatre that nicely amplifies your voice, lava tubes and other evidence of the separation of the continents, a small sea cave, steep red cliffs and holes-in-the-rock.
Inclusions: Professional guide, Lunch

I have done many guided sea kayaking trips and Nova Shores knows how to do it right. Nova Shores provides participants with a lot of extra gear that most places do not. This is extremely helpful if you are traveling because it cuts down on what you have to bring, but it is also helpful if this is your first time kayaking. The boots that they provide are great and I highly recommend them. While you do not have to step into the water a lot, they will keep you feet warm if they get wet. They also have some jackets and gloves depending on what time of year you go out. The kayaks and paddles were all in good repair, and I saw all the safety equipment I would expect to see with a trip of this nature. Our guide Liam was very kind and funny. He added to the quality of the trip because of his knowledge of the geology and local tribal lore about the Bay of Fundy. Liam also provided good instruction about kayaking and made sure that the group was safe and successful. Now the location is what makes this trip amazing. We went on the high tide paddle which I would highly recommend. When we paddled out, you were able to paddle amongst the rocks of the three sisters, go into natural coves and amphitheaters and even two sea caves. It was great fun to be able to paddle through the arch at high tide as well. At the "midway" you make it to a beach where you are able to get out and we enjoyed a bowl of chili and some great snacks. While you are on the beach the tides turn and start flowing out so as you head back you see the speed at which the tides flow out of the Bay of Fundy. Areas that you previously kayaked through are now unaccessible because of the change of water height, so you see it through a whole new lens. The tidal change actually gives you a push back to where you put in, so the paddling is even easier on the way back in. The scenery here is unbelievable and we saw a bald eagle soaring overhead on our trip. Nova Shores puts together a great adventure.and I would return to take one of their longer trips as well. Thank you to the Nova Shores team for making our trip to Advocate Harbor special.
Nova Scotia boasts some of the finest winery in Canada. Known for its historic maritime culture, fantastic beaches, the Bay of Fundy's record tides now add a great wine to that list. The earliest vines in Nova Scotia were planted in around 1610 by Champlain's hard-working band of settlers. It was and still is great to relax to a glass of wine after a hard day's work. Today the wine industry in Nova Scotia has grown to become a proud addition to the province's economy. We will begin our tour with the narration of the areas of our intended sites. Our first visit will be at the Domaine de Grand Pre Winery, where we will spend about two hours exploring this site. We will spend the day investigating the various vineyards where you can take in the beauty and sample their unique offerings. This is a day that is spent outdoors so please dress appropriately for this tour. Walking shoes are ideal.
