Yet another place with cool vibes and happy people, Chilly Beans Cafe makes you feel relaxed and comfortable. As soon as we entered the place we were greeted by the smiley staff and instantly felt welcomed. The menu has a wide variety ranging from local delicacies to international items as well as plenty of juice options. Their momos were quite good, their juices delicious and their coffee quite descent. Thumbs up!

We ate here last weekend and McLeog Ganj was absolutely packed due to the Dalai Lama doing some teachings. I've seen the Clay Oven busy before - it's very popular - but nothing like as busy as this. We ended up sharing a table with two other diners (who didn't know each other).Knowing things were likely to be slow, we got our order in as quickly as we could - in fact we didn't even look at the menu, and we picked the veg thali on the grounds that they'd be sure to have lots of it in the kitchen. Their thali varies from amazing to so-so and this was closer to the so-so end of the spectrum. I'm sure the high number of diners didn't help.2 veg thalis plus 2 soft drinks and tip - 500 rp.

Dropped in for a cup of tea and a late breakfast. The place doesnât look like much from the street, but there is a small, comfortable cafe inside, and a quiet patio with plants, wild birds and a great mountain view over the rooftops. The menu offers an excellent variety of teas and has a fairly broad choice of cuisine, all vegetarian, including some Tibetan choices. There is also a baked goods counter loaded with some very tempting home style baking. I opted for a Chaay Masala and the Farmerâs Breakfast, and I certainly was not disappointed. Both served hot, with fresh ingredients. About INR 200 for breakfast including tea, tax and tip.

By far, Carpe Diem is my favourite place to eat in McLeodganj. Its a multicuisine of sorts (Italian, Chinese, Indian and Tibetan), however, my recommendation would be to try the Italian food here - pizzas in particular. Amongst the several teas they offer, honey lemon ginger tea is the best. There are tables and chairs you can sit on, and there are also comfortable cushions on the floor where you can sit and eat. Its a very laid back place. When in McLeodganj, you cannot give Carpe Diem a skip! :)

Rude unhelpful staff; couldnât be bothered to explain or even give us any condiments as they had already cleared the tables by 8.15pm. We ordered mushroom gnocchi, a ravioli & thupka: thupka was tasteless, gnocchi stodgy & ravioli soggy and totally lacking any flavour. Just not worth eating, couldnât get out of there fast enough! Very disappointed by the whole experience.

We had pizza here last year on a previous visit and I don't recall being overly impressed but this time we tried their pasta dishes and they were much better. We had the pasta puttanesca which I really enjoyed - not TOO big a portion but plenty of flavour and well prepared. We also had the garlic bread with cheese which was more or less cheese on toast (I really didn't spot the garlic) but it was nice. Add two sweet lime sodas and the bill came to 550 rupees for two - very reasonable. Service was well paced. Even though it's only a small place, they seemed to turn the tables over quite effectively so that people were not turned away.

We have been in Mcleodganj for the last couple of days and have ended up visiting this little surprise package quite a few times.. First of all the food : They mainly serve Tibetan food though the menu options per second wouldn't be very high. The dishes are freshly cooked and it reflects in the taste as well. The dough for noodles and dumplings is also prepared in house which sort of adds to the freshness of the meal. They also use wheat to prepare the dough which is also very interesting. If nothing else, it makes the dish healthier. They mainly operate for a few hours during the day and the joint is frequented by both locals and foreigners. Value for money is good too, a meal for two would cost around 300. Must try would be veg dimsums, thukpa and even the noodles..

Common Ground Cafe is a social enterprise that serves not only a fusion of authentic Tibetan and Chinese cuisine, but also as a gathering point and events venue for the Dharamsala community. We hope to serve you soon!
The cuisine is authentically local, food portions are good & prices reasonable. We especially loved the toffee bar & the Tibetan teas. The owner also helped us to procure the Tibetan tea bags from the local market. The vibe, the super warm hosts, the food, the view- they all beckoned us for a second visit during our stay & we really hope to come back again soon!
