We find ourselves talking about this museum more often than we could have expected. My favorite painting was Washington Crossing the Delaware. For DH, a painting by Church captured his attention and impressed him that Winona would have such high quality and famous artists.... Of course the museum has paintings by more famous artists, too! But we appreciated it all and would go back if in Winona again!

A scenic overlook where visitors can see from Lake Pepin to Mount Trempealeau.
Drove up to this scenic viewpoint and really did enjoy the view. Noted a walking trail, but not sure of distance so didn't take.

Lake Park in Winona, Minnesota is one of the most beautiful places I have ever seen! There is a paved path that surrounds the lake, that you can walk, bike, roller blade, ect... Gorgeous tree covered bluffs, playground, veteran's memorial, rose gardens, fishing piers, ducks and swans,
ect... Lake Park is an Ideal place to spend the day and have fun and relax...great for all ages. I go there several times a week, and I feel very lucky to live only a mile from there.

Beautiful church in a quiet small town on the banks of the Mississippi River. Lovely interior with gorgeous stained glass windows and a huge pipe organ loft. Exterior is difficult to photograph due to electrical wires and poles, but nice from across the street. Pretty little grotto on the side.

Overlooking the Mississippi River, this park offers scenic views.
The drive to the park is pretty and there are great views within. The park has 7 miles of hiking trails which feature scenic vistas of the Mississippi River Valley. The trails are not well marked however. Pets are allowed on the trails. The campground has 31 sites but no electricity.

Considered one of the most scenic drives in America.
We drive US 61 pretty often. It is normally a well maintained road. We often take it from Wabasha to the Twin Cities. Wabasha to Red Wing is a two lane portion of the road. The gas station in Frontenac is closed. We also drive South to La Crosse & that section of the road is 4 lane. The views of the Mississippi River are beautiful all year.

While in town my wife wanted to visit the store to purchase some products. While I can't comment on the museum I can say I thought there would be more products available. A little disappointed.

Museum featuring a timeline of Winona County, from 500 years ago until the present.
Stopped for a break from a long drive and found this gem.
Be warned you will learn things about life and the region if you bother to READ. The museum staff has compiled great captions to their displays.
When there in July 2017, there was a great display of locally made fine furniture.

Very interesting area with beautiful little Falls out front. Nice picnic area in front of mill. Admission fee to enter the mill and it must be cash only they do not take any kind of plastic at all!! The staff member in the mill was very friendly and had a lot of info but we were unable to tour the mill or see the mill wheel due not having green cash with us :-(

Eighty-five foot tall limestone mountain located on a 400-foot bluff.
I spent some time in Winona and asked many people how to get there and nobody knows. There is rumor about two traces on the back of the hill, but there is "Private property" sigh and no parking at all. I can't reach it, there is no attraction. That simple for me.
