Escape Lounge at Hartford’s Bradley International Airport has fabulous views over the airfield and boasts an appetizing menu, carefully crafted from fresh, local ingredients by Chef Tyler Anderson of Millwright’s Tavern & Restaurant. Choose from an enticing range of complimentary items accompanied by a selection of soft and alcoholic beverages, or upgrade to our premium a la carte menu.
Had a meeting before my flight so arrived early at the lounge. Really enjoyed the food (chicken soup, short ribs, veggies, cheese, drinks, cookies) and super friendly and attentive staff. My wife raved about this smallish but mighty lounge when she passed through Hartford in May, and she wasn’t wrong. Only downside is they ran out of room for more people!

Award winning Premium Escape Rooms and Events Center conveniently located next to Bradley Int'l Airport in Windsor Locks, CT.
We did the Ocean's 10 room as a group of 8 very passionate, creative people. We had a blast zipping around the room from clue to clue! We didn't finish but we were very close. It wasn't too easy, nor too challenging. It had several layers that anyone could have fun unpeeling. All of the rooms are based on true stories which makes it even more intriguing. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Will return! Highly recommended!!!

My husband and I visited the New England Air Museum in Windsor Locks, Connecticut on Friday, December 11th, 2020, This museum is located very close to Bradley International Airport, in fact, the control tower to the airport is just across the street, The museum’s location makes it a convenient place to visit both to and from the airport and any other time during its wide range of hours that it is open. It was quite nice that we did not need advance tickets, which made things easier and provided us with some flexibility as to when we could visit the museum. The museum is also open daily, Tuesday – Sunday 10:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m., again offering flexibility with a wide range of times which you could visit. We arrived at the museum about 10:00 a.m. when it opened for the day, and it definitely was not crowded with plenty of room to social distance and take a walk back through time in aviation history. It is a great tribute from multiple perspectives, with all the aircraft on display well restored and preserved, being quite unique and very impressive, in particular because the restoration is largely done by volunteers. Also, the information on how each aircraft that was on display was used and the significance the aircraft played in protecting our country’s freedoms, when applicable, was quite helpful and very educational. Some of the aircraft was even decorated for the holiday season, which was also quite nice. The last time we visited the museum was in February of 2020 and there was definitely more aircraft on display this time from last time. However, it did not appear that any of the existing aircraft in the permanent collection on display was removed or replaced from what we could tell. Based on my notes and from what I could tell, the additional aircraft included a Grumman F-14B Tomcat on loan from the National Museum of Naval Aviation; the Republic JB-2 “Loon” (both in the Military Hangar) and the Burnelli CBY-3 Loadmaster (in restoration in the Civil Aviation Hangar) and more. We were also able to go outside at the time of our visit to see the aircraft that was out there, including the interesting Grumman HU-163 “Albatross” (1953), also on loan from the National Museum of Naval Aviation. However, what was outside on display was not as nicely restored as what was inside. This museum has three hangars full of various types of historical aircraft as well as other areas with interesting and educational exhibits, such as a nice tribute to the Tuskegee Airmen. The aircraft includes Sikorsky, Kaman, Lockheed, McDonnell-Douglas, Boeing, Goodyear and much, much more. What we saw in each of the hangars is described below. This museum is a nice place for the whole family to enjoy. We were at the museum for a little over an hour, based on the amount of time available to us, but we could easily have spent well over two hours there. You may have to go back to this museum multiple times to see and absorb all it has to offer. There is also plenty of convenient free parking next to the museum. Military Hangar: We started in the Military Hangar which has quite interesting displays providing a lot of historical information. There is a wide selection of various types of aircraft from multiple wars, both airplanes and helicopters in this hangar. I never saw such a large collection of different types of helicopters that were on display before!! Some of them were quite large. Everything in this hangar is quite interesting, including the write-ups providing detailed background information on what is on display. The wide variety of military aircraft in this hangar, based on past visits and this time, included: a Douglas A-26 Invader named Reida Rae; a F-100 Super Sabre Fighter Bomber; a Republic P-47D Thunderbolt Fighter named the Jug; a CH-54b Skycrane; a Lockheed F-104C Starfighter; a McDonnell-Douglas F-4D Phantom II; and a Kaman SH-2F Seasprite Navy Helicopter, Also, there is a North American B-25 World War II Mitchell Bomber; B-25 Armament; a MD-22 Flight Simulator Cockpit Module, Snakeye GP Bombs used in Vietnam; a Vought XF4U-4 Corsair Fighter, a K-Max Helicopter; a HH-43 Huskie Helicopter and much, much, more. I hope I got this all right, because there really is quite a lot to see!! Also in the Military Hangar are Computerized Flight Simulators where you are able to simulate a flight of a Cessna 172 from airports throughout the world. Interesting information on the Kaman Corporation and its diversification into helicopters, rotor blades and the Ovations Guitar is on display. In addition, there is a nice tribute to the Kaman founder, Charlie Kaman, depicting him as a Renaissance Man. There is also a display on the Vietnam Air War. Civil Aviation Hangar: We then went into the Civil Aviation Hangar which also has a wide selection of airplanes and helicopters, all quite impressive as well as well restored and preserved. There is a Sikorsky Memorial, which includes information on Igor Sikorsky’s early life in Russia, his achievements and his dedication to rescue with specific topics on ‘Igor Sikorsky the Man’, ‘The Russian Years’ ‘The Early American Years’; ‘Wings Across the Ocean’ and the ‘Birth of an Industry’. This is a nice tribute. There are also nice exhibits on the evolution of the helicopter, a Transocean Air Mail exhibit, an exhibit on Pratt and Whitney Innovations and much, much, more, all being quite interesting, educational, and providing a very good historical perspective. The aircraft on display in the Civil Aviation Hangar includes a Sikorsky VS-44 Four-Engine Flying Boat named Excambian, owned by Maureen O’Hara’s husband, which looks like a luxurious cruise ship. There also is a Sikorsky S-39B Jungle Gym Amphibian; a Douglas DC-3; a K-28 Blimp Car, a Piper J-3 Cub Aircraft, Domain Helicopters; a very large and impressive plane from the Great Silver Fleet and much, much more. Hopefully these are all correct!! The write-ups in this hangar also provide nice background information on what is on display. B-29 Superfortress Bomber Hangar: Finally we went into the B-29 Hangar, which has a very impressive Boeing B-29 Superfortress Bomber named “Jack’s Hack”, as well as other aircraft and military equipment. There is very good background information on the B-29’s milestones and the concurrency process used in its development. There is also an interesting story about the B-29A on display as well as a nice tribute to it through the 58th – Bomb Wing Memorial and with information on the crew of Jack’s Hack. The size and restoration involved with this B-29 is quite impressive!!. This museum has a lot to offer, much, much more than what I mention above. I don’t mention all the exhibits or sections of the museum in this write-up. We enjoyed this museum and recommend it to those interested in history, especially the history of aviation from multiple perspectives.

I came during the day to inquire about booking an event in the private Elite Suite. I was surprised at how big this facility is. There is so much to do here! They have a large game room, laser tag, and two escape rooms. I brought my kids along and we ended up spending over an hour in the game room. We had a blast and can't wait to come back and do one of the escape rooms.
