{Presently, horseshoe has not paid out much but its still a fun place to spend some down time. Food is exceptional at the buffet and the steak house is awesome with a great view of the lake.

There was a large variety of slots, plenty of blackjack tables, a couple roulette tables, but not a whole lot of poker tables. Four floors, smoking and non-smoking areas. Self-serve free cokes and coffee was a big plus! Slots that I played were a little tight, but as expected. My husband played 3-card poker and had a blast playing with Tiondria (?). Restrooms were clean, everything seemed welcoming and not too crowded. Plenty of staff ready and willing to help.

Ok, the shakes with the homemade whipped cream and cookies are KILLER, the candies are superb, and the atmosphere is quaint. Like many, I was introduced to the deliciousness of Gayety's by my mom at the former location on Commercial Avenue in Chicago (any one else a bit intimidated by old man Papageorge behind the register with his gigantic cigar?). Since then the establishment has been going strong under the guidance of his nephew Lee and then Jim (Lee's son). NOT the place to go if you are watching your caloric intake but sooooo worth the occasional splurge!

This is a small theater but every seat is fantastic. It's location is in an unusual location but is easily accessible. The buffet was fantastic and reasonably priced. Try the oven fired pizza as well.

Went to Whiting, IN for Pierogi Fest and tried their beers in the beer garden. When we found out they we local we headed down 119th Street right to the brewery. They have a nice selection of their home brewed beers like lagers, stouts, IPA, ale and wheats. They also offer a few guest beers but why would you order any of those? We didn't have anything to eat here since we were already filled up on Polish food but they do offer a nice selection of appetizers, soup, salads, sandwiches, pizza and tons of entrees.

This beach was next to the casino/hotel we were staying at. A short walk from the hotel. The beach was very clean and not crowded at all. There were a couple lifeguards on duty. There are 2 jungle gyms, one on the beach and one by the picnic areas. The one by the picnic area has the very soft squishy floor to prevent injuries.
There is also a VERY nice splash pad open Noon-7pm for kids 12 and under. The sand is super soft but the last 3-4' before entering the water is kind of gravelly. The water was cold for it being 85 degrees in June but it did not deter the kids all around. The views of Lake Michigan are nice and you will see many boats going to/from the nearby marina. There are signs for fishing, but i didn't notice anyone fishing. There are also public restrooms and outside showers to rinse the sand off. Plenty of parking. 2 or 3 large covered picnic areas and a sand volleyball court. There seemed to be a small concession stand but it was not open when i visited. There is a wheelchair accessible ramp to get down to the beach.

This neighborhood was the site of a planned community that was not finished because of World War I.
Marktown is a must see for any area history buff--designed in an English garden style, this site is a remarkable remnant of pre-war US industry. NOTE: BP has been attempting to demolish the area for years--knowing that it exists and its importance can help ensure its preservation.

An interesting but nice place. Bar was fairly clean and the staff was nice. Plenty of parking and the drinks were decent too.

Moored on Lake Michigan, this riverboat casino carriers 3,700 passengers and offers a variety of games including roulette, craps, baccarat and slots.
This casino is not desirable in comparison to other can casinos reachable within a half an hour drive time. Of course, it is still located on the "boat" built many years ago. Quite crowded, lots of smoking, and not seeing many people celebrating winnings. Again-no thanks!
