PROS: affordable with AAA discount; tour at your own pace; beautiful cave formations ; an easy 45 min stop at least; affordable and diverse gift shop; small free exhibits with mostly casts of different dinos.

CONS: people with disabilities can’t do it as it has plenty of slippery, steep stairs. Can be crowded as you are self guided so may be trouble with family pics. That long dirt road can have you worrying about damaging your tires or losing air.

Smooth Ambler puts out incredible products and has a wonderful, warm atmosphere if you come in for a tour or just a quick taste and bottle purchase. Val, Becca and the rest of the crew are incredibly hospitable.

They're worth a visit, even if you have to go out of your way (in our case, from Missouri).

The Greenbrier Falconry

Reviewed By Nomadhunter

We really enjoyed this tour during our stay at the Greenbrier. The falconer was very interesting in his knowledge of falcons and hawks. He demonstrated his austringer expertise in his handling of an African eagle owl and several harris hawks. The tour was conducted with a harris hawk that he put through his paces while explaining the temperament and relationship that is developed between the raptor and his handler. The tour culminated with a picture taking session with a hooded Lanner falcon. If you enjoy the outdoors and wish to learn some about the thousand year old sport of falconry, I would highly recommend this tour.

If you are staying at the Greenbrier and need to play craps, blackjack, roulette, or slots, this is the place for you. A small area in the lower level of the main building, the casino has several tables with a range of minimums. Unlike some casinos, the sound on the slot machines is muted, so it's not overwhelming. It was not crowded on a weekend evening in October.

After the round we had drinks in the clubhouse with the couple we were placed with....finishing off a lovely day at the Meadows...

The Old White TPC Golf Course

Reviewed By Taylor B - Chicago, Illinois

The first time I visited the Greenbrier resort in White Sulphur Springs, West Virginia, I saw the legendary Sam Snead playing a round of golf with a couple of paying customers and his dog. Later, I attended the first Greenbrier Classic, the newest event on the PGA tour, and got Sergio Garcia's autograph. And I attended a press conference where Hall of Fame golfer Tom Watson said, in his opinion, the drive off the first tee at The Old White TPC Course at the Greenbrier was the toughest of any course he ever played. Imagine, for the price of a good meal in the Greenbrier's main dining room, you can play a round of golf on the course that Snead, Watson, Garcia, Ben Hogan, Byron Nelson, Arnold Palmer, Gary Player, Jack Nicklaus, Tiger Woods, Lee Trevino and Phil Mickelson have played. Stuart Appleby shot a 59 in the final round to win the Greenbrier's inaugural tournament in 2010. Opened in 1914, the course was named for the Old White Hotel, which stood on the grounds from 1858 to 1922. President Woodrow Wilson was one of the first golfers to play the historic course, which is known for its undulating greens, tree-lined fairways and holes that designer and architect Charles Blair Macdonald styled after famous holes at English and Scottish courses. Book one of the world-famous Greenbrier's 710 rooms and bring your golf clubs. Then see if Tom Watson was right. Can you hit the fairway off the Old White's first tee?
