Along with selling alpacas and offering mentoring support we also have a small farm store with products made here on the farm, we offer some of our barn space for small private parties, and we have multiple Open Houses throughout the year. We are open by appointment ONLY. We would love to show you the farm and share with you our love of fiber farming,
If you’re in or near the Asheville area, I *highly* recommend a visit to Last Penny Farm! It is such a special and magical experience. My family enjoyed it so much, and will treasure the memories forever! My kids cannot wait to go back again someday. The alpacas are so ADORABLE and full of personality and are so good with children. We got to learn about them, pet them, hang out with them for over an hour, feed them, and my son really bonded with one sweet girl named Lizzy, giving her all the snuggles! Erin (the owner) is the absolute BEST!!!! She’s so wonderful, friendly, sweet, kind, patient, knowledgeable - she’s a true *GEM* !! She even cleaned the mud and alpaca poopy off of our boots for us! I was happy to have the opportunity to purchase some super cute alpaca plush toys for my kids to commemorate the visit, as well as a cozy headwrap for me, knit by hand by Erin herself, with the fiber from her alpacas. She makes cute beanie hats too! So happy to support this amazing woman and her passion for alpaca farming!

Explore the exhibit in our visitor center to learn more about the life of Zebulon Vance and his political impact on the state. Check out our calendar of special events or drop by for a Mountain Farmstead Tour, offered Tuesday-Saturday at 11:00, 1:00, and 3:00. No time for a full tour? The site is completely self-guided. Just grab a map and explore! We also offer special group tours and field trips for schools and summer camps.
We were doing some scenic driving when we saw the signs for the Vance Birthplace, not a native to NC, so we wanted to stop and get the history. Such a wonderful experience takes about an hour to explore if you love history! Has a nice covered shelter for a family picnic as well. We will bring our grandchildren on our return trip to NC.
