Fort Ancient State Memorial

Historic site featuring 2000-year-old walls built by hand as a calendar system by Native American peoples.

Reviewed By Shawn H - Alexandria Bay, New York

This is one of those sites that is not well known, but should be. Talk about Native People's history, this is the place that goes back some 2000 years ago. The introductory movie was very helpful in understanding what was on display and what happened at this site. The museum was first rate and had excellent exhibits that are explained in detail and show connection to more modern times. It is worthwhile to go out on the trails and see the mounds and other earthworks. This is another must see!

Caesar Creek Lake

My family boats on Caesar Creek Lake whenever we get the chance! The lake is a nice size and offers plenty of coves for anchoring to swim and plenty of open area for skiing and tubing. There are several ramps, and the one we use is fairly large, as 4 boats/jet skis can be lowered in at one time. They also have a BRAND NEW MARINA that is very nice! Very clean and spacious bathrooms (I highly recommend the marina bathrooms over the boat ramp bathrooms) and a small store with ice cream and various items for purchase.

Ohio Renaissance Festival

Reviewed By tonia1965 - Batavia, Ohio

The lines were pretty long to get buy your ticket. So if you can buy your tickets online I would highly recommend it.
It was $3.00 to park and $22.50 a person to get in.
There are a few free shows but the good shows cost any were from $3.00 to $14.00 and last around 20 minutes.
There are tons of shops with all kinds of clothes and swords and other stuff. Most things are not cheap at all but the items are very good quality and hand made.
There is also a lot of places to eat as well and the prices are pretty good.
Remember the place does get very crowded by noon and the traffic coming off of 71 is pretty bad at times but the do have cops directing traffic but it still took us 12 minutes to get onto Route 73 from I-71!! So be ready for heavy traffic and long lines and very crowded.
Over all the place is fun and has cool shops.

Bella does a fantastic job of keeping you safe, educating you about the history of ballooning and most importantly making sure you have a GREAT time! My husband and I did an evening flight and we are already talking about going back for a sunrise flight one day. Mike (our pilot) was wonderful.

Please note, you will want to be a little flexible with your schedule. Since you are literally floating in the weather the wind and weather determine if it is safe to fly. But don't worry, they are very good about communicating what's happening to you.

Cox Arboretum MetroPark

This beautiful 189-acre facility is a special place for visitors to escape among trees, shrubs, specialty gardens, mature forests, and prairies. The arboretum hosts year-round educational programs that teach children and adults about sustainable horticulture, plant science, and conservation. Cox Arboretum MetroPark is also home to a native-Ohio Butterfly House.

Reviewed By Mehrad S - Toledo, Ohio

We visited the place at the end of the day. The park is relatively small, yet refreshing and nice. There were no butterflies in the butterfly house (maybe because of time). I can hardly remember my toddler so happy in a park. Wish there were butterflies for her to watch.

We toured the new fourth hangar with Presidential airplanes and experimental aircraft - including a flying saucer. I was surprised at how small the early sidential planes were. The facilities are very, very clean. The volunteers who staff the museum are very, very friendly and helpful. Many of them shared stories about the planes and about their experiences. We've visited the museum several times over the years but joined as friends of the museum this visit because we felt we wanted to support the effort made to preserve not only aircraft but history. It is amazing to see all of these aircraft restored and available for the public.

The actual zip line course and instructors were great, but the back office stole our money! After I paid a down payment and was cancelled on due to weather, we were forced to reschedule with less participants so I expected a refund of the difference. I've asked for my money back over the last 3 months and have been given the run-around. I don't expect it back now. Just a warning... DO NOT PAY THE DOWN PAYMENT!

Museum at the Friends Home

The Museum is housed in the 1905 Friends Boarding Home which looks very much as it did when retired Quakers and single school teachers lived there in its early days. As the gateway to the Quaker Historical District in Waynesville, Ohio, the Friends Home operates as a cultural center for the village, and for Wayne and Massie Townships of Warren County.

After the walking tour, we were invited into the museum to walk around and eat cookies/doughnuts and hot cocoa/coffee. The volunteers who work there are knowledgeable about the exhibits and enjoy what they do there! I highly recommend visiting this museum which is tun solely on fundraising and donations.

Little Miami Scenic Trail

Used by hikers, bikers and horseback riders, this scenic trail is part of an 80-mile trail network extending from eastern Cincinnati to Buck Creek State Park.

Reviewed By Rediron

We regularly ride the Little Miami Trail and find each section is a fine bike trail. The paved Trail runs on an old railroad bed right beside the national scenic Little Miami River, extending 78 miles through five counties.
We often look for lesser travelled sections in northern Warren County, up in to Greene County. Oregonia, Corwin and Spring Valley offer good parking and a fine ride.
Down south, Loveland is a lively town with several restaurants available and periodic festivals or events. Yet, for a relaxing ride, Loveland area can be too crowded and busy.
Try riding from Xenia up to Yellow Springs, see the college town and interesting galleries and shops - then enjoy coasting for a couple miles going back to Xenia! Xenia Railroad Station Park is a nexus of several bike trails.
