Came back to my childhood fishing experience at Leech Lake. Guide Phill was fabulous. Made my mom- MN family enjoy fishing and walleye like I did when I grew up. My husband and son had a great time and were successful in catching walleye with guide Phil!

Brewery and taproom located in Chippewa National Forest, MN. Focused on native wild yeast cultivation and brewing, Portage specializes in hybrid ale styles that are complex, crushable, and disruptive to standard styles. Boat, bike, or drive over for a pint. Established in April of 2017.
The building is beautiful inside and has a nice outdoor patio as well. There appears to be nice meeting rooms, and I will say the staff was very fun and the beers tasty and unique. Well worth a stop by!

The Shingobee Rec Area is absolutely beautiful, and for the best sledding in the entire area, check out Shingobee Hill, between Walker and Park Rapids on Highway 34. It rivals ski hills for vertical drop, so get your nerve up before pushing off the top of the slope! For chickens, there is a longer, more gradual sledding slope off to the side. A rustic lodge below the hill can be rented for $50 if you'd like to host a bonfire and hot chocolate party after sledding! In the summer and fall, it's a beautiful hiking destination.

After hiking many trails and walking dirt roads, we decided on a different venue for our evening walk with our dog. What a surprise Walker City Park was to us! A large playground, swimming beach, tennis courts, picnic tables, and even a lighthouse with a table inside accompanied sweeping views of Walker Bay, Leech Lake.

This is a wonderfully well stocked health food store year-round. Check hours! They vary slightly by season!
In the summer, there is a great Thursday Farmer's Market, with local vendors like me. The Green Scene offers artisan pizzas, live music and a small outdoor dining area.

The Circle of Time consists of 13 beautiful, bronze statues, each depicting 13 different eras in time of the art, culture and history of the Leech Lake Area. Under each statue is a historical description, which is very interesting and educational for all ages. The monument was sculpted by nationally-renowned sculptor Joel Randell from Luther, Oklahoma and is truly a sight to behold in such a small town. However, Walker, Minnesota is a very unusal small town with its outstanding community center, a beautiful lighthouse on the shores of Walker Bay, a wonderful city park and a very interesting museum. The Circle of Time is an icon for this City on the Bay!
