Mad River Glen

Popular Vermont ski area and New England's best ski buy.

It was crowded when we went on a Saturday after receiving 2 ft of snow, but it was worth it. The parking attendants are fabulous. They will will find spots where you think none exist. The lift lines were a little long, but it was worth the wait. Trails for all ability levels. Skiers dressed in costumes made it entertaining. It's an old school mountain with lots of charm.

For starters, the weather and snow conditions were literally perfect during my most recent visit, so please take that into consideration. Every trail and every lift was open and the longest liftline was under 10 minutes (at Castlerock double, nonetheless).
Like so many ski trips, the weather and snow conditions can make it or break it, so this trip was perfect since the sun was out, temps were in the 20s and every trail was covered in snow, including natural snow trails.
The diversity of terrain here is great, with plenty of blue cruisers, some groomed blacks and plenty of bump runs too. There's not a lot of green runs but a good little learning area at South and a nice lower mountain lift at North too.
The lift network is great, with several high-speed quads that allow you to do a lot of runs. This is really one of the top 4 ski resorts in the east, hands down.

Vermont Icelandic Horse Farm

Reviewed By vghadam - Bethlehem, Pennsylvania

Took a four-day trek in the fall and enjoyed myself so much came back in the dead of winter for a different riding experience. The fall trek had peak foliage and tremendous views to offer, the winter riding was like being in a living Vermont postcard! What was consistent about both trips was the knowledgeable owner and staff, the immaculately kept barn and premises, and, of course, the horses. Wonderful to experience a happy, well-cared for herd who know their jobs and love doing them--whatever the season. See you in the spring!

Warren Falls

After a great visit in mansfield mountain and stowe , we decided to visit this place, the scenic road(vermont100) was simply breathtaking with trees with amazing leaves colors, but when we got to warren falls, well, maybe its the right season, but we hardly saw very low falls and it was quite disappointing and other visitors felt the same. But again the road to this place was amazing so it was worth it.

This country store and deli is in the small village of Warren, which closely loops off scenic Route 100. They deli staff is efficient even when busy…offering a nice choice of sandwiches and salads…which are prepared with little wait. There is seating indoors, but we opted to share one of the picnic tables outside by the small waterfall and river. This was a very pleasant patio area! Our sandwiches were delicious and The Warren Store was a wonderful lunch stop while viewing fall foliage along one of the most scenic routes in all of New England.

I have spent many, many hours on the extensive trail network at Ole's. They have a fantastic range of ski rental equipment, friendly staff and the trails are very well cared for. You can ski through some of Vermont's most outstanding rolling farmland, small quite flat loops for beginners as well as much longer loops for the more adventurous. Highly recommended!

The Skinner Barn

The Skinner Barn is a beautifully restored historic dairy barn built in 1891 by the Daniel Skinner family. Of classic post and beam construction, it offers a special environment for educational classes, cultural events, parties, and receptions. Flanked by the majestic Northfield Ridge to its east and the mountains that host the Sugarbush and Mad River Glen ski areas to its west, The Skinner Barn offers a quintessential Vermont setting. The upper floor of The Skinner Barn has been restored with loving attention keeping the historical character of the structure intact. This open space, originally designed for hay storage, is now used as an assembly space for a wide range of functions from weddings & rehearsal dinners to theater camps, theater productions, dances and cabaret performances.

We attended a performance of "Pete 'N Keely." Both actors provided energetic and polished performances. This wasn't Broadway, but it was fun, entertaining, and of a higher scale than one might anticipate in an old barn (beautifully restored on gorgeous grounds) on a dirt road. The entire audience, including the four of us who attended together, had a good time. The sound and lighting were well-executed and reflective of the work of professionals.

My only negative comment is about the chairs. They provided a small amount of cushioning in sitting area and none for the back.

For only $25, it's a bargain.
