Keeneland

Part thoroughbred race course, part sales company and considered one of America's most beautiful tracks, Keeneland is known for its well-designed and meticulous landscaping. The grounds consist of the paddock, a prep area where visitors can view horses up-close just before the race and a combination of dirt and turf race tracks.

Look if your visiting Lexington during racing season I'm sure your heading here anyway. If your in Lexington by chance and never heard of Keeneland then slip on over for top notch racing or just a look at the race course. Watch the horses train for free in the morning. Stop by the backside kitchen for a great breakfast with owners and trainers elbow to elbow.

Wildside Winery

Owners Neil and Rachel bought a beautiful 30 acre farm near Versailles, Kentucky in Woodford County in 1997 and began planting grapes, berries, apples, and peaches in 1998. They named the farm Wildside Farm because of the wild sunflowers and coneflowers that grew in abundance. In addition, the name fit because the farm was initially certified organic until they learned that a minimum of amount of pesticides was needed to keep the fruits healthy. They still use minimal pesticides. Each year they planted more grapes until today they have 5 acres of grapes, two acres of fruit trees and 1.5 acres of berries.Welcome to Wildside Winery your winery near Lexington Kentucky, the airport, and Keeneland racetrack! On a stormy spring weekend, we visited the Wild Turkey distillery. The building is very nice. Our tour guide was very informative and friendly. We tasted four different varieties including Kentucky spirit, 101 rye whiskey, American honey sting which was my favorite. After the tour, talking about our tastings, she gave us more suggestions about other varieties which they sell in their store. Like the caramel bourbon scented candles in the store.

Irish Acres Gallery of Antiques

Reviewed By briannameighan - Miami, Florida

Every time I visit Lexington, I always make a visit to Irish Acres, both for the beautiful antiques gallery and also for lunch at their restaurant The Glitz! If you're in Lexington in November or December, I highly recommend visiting Irish Acres because the Christmas decorations are just beautiful and a visit during this time a year really makes the season all the more magical! This is not a place for small children, in fact, I believe there is even a sign posted that says exactly this! There are just too many fragile and expensive items, making it not appropriate for small children (and I write this as a mother of 2 small children).

We were at Winstar yesterday. We greatly enjoyed our tour. While scheduled for 1 hour, our tour was nearly 1 1/2 hours. Our tour guide, Bethany, was excellent. She patiently answered all of our questions. She allowed everybody to get all of the photos of the horses they wanted.

Winstar is a very impressive operation. It was amazing to learn of all the facilities they have available.

Most of all, getting to see the beautiful horses was worth the cost. We were especially thrilled to watch Pioneer of the Nile, American Pharoah's father, running in the pasture. There are so many horses there with amazing personalities. We thoroughly enjoyed our time there.
