Stavadalen Ski Center is located by the Bjodalsfjellet mountain, approx. 10 km from Bagn. With its beautiful surroundings and 1000 msl., this area is perfect for outdoor activities. The Ski Center has one button lift and 4 runs, and from the top of the lift, many km of cross-sountry trails are waiting to be explored. Restaurant / Café in the Makalaus Hut. Moderately demanding walking (no climbing or scrambling) ascent. Highly rewarding view from the summit towards Jotunheimen and Valdres. Tour description Length: approx. 6 km one way Duration: approx. 2.5–3 hrs. up Altitude difference: ca. 750 meters Suitable for children: from 8 yrs. From Beitostolen, drive to Beito and follow the signs towards Slettefjellvegen. Drive past the toll station (NOK 50 in 2010), continue past Fleinsendin and turn left at the intersection. Parking area on the left side of the road, near Mugnestolen, approx. 3.5 km from the toll station. The path starts on the opposite side of the road and is marked with cairns and white V’s. It leads gently uphill to Mugnebottjernet (pond) and then climbs steeper up into a col. From here you have two options. The steeper and more demanding route (recommended uphill only) turns right, while the main route, which is still steep but less demanding, continues straight ahead for another 300 meters and then turns to the right and uphill, too. The last bit leads through rocky terrain to the summit with a stunning, highly rewarding view towards Jotunheimen and Valdres. Equipment Standard clothing for high mountain walks: solid hiking boots, wind- and waterproof outer layer, warm sweater, hat, mittens, daypack. No special equipment required. Tip: Stay overnight at Gronolen Fjellgard and take a bike to the trail head. This way you get a varied full day tour.

VALDRES FOLK MUSEUM The museum is one of the biggest and most beautiful open air museums in Norway. In the main building, you’ll find the information counter, a gift shop and exhibitions of folk costumes, folk art and the only exhibition of Norwegian langeleik in the country. During the winter we offer tours of the exhibitions. A guided tour last about an hour. Tours can be booked with guiding . LUNCH, DINNER OR A CUP OF COFFEE Please contact us for the menu and prices. The museum café is open all year. ITHE VALDRES MUSEUMS The Valdres Museums are leading in Norway in folk culture and non-materialistic cultural heritage. Their main focus is building preservation, folk music, instrument production and traditional folk costumes and textiles. The Valdres Museums consist of three museums and one burial place. The collection includes a total of 120 houses, 27.000 objects and 150.000 photos that form the basis for the knowledge and reflection about Valdres in the old days.
It was mid winter, and snow everywhere, but the museum was still open. The lass in charge actually opened some sections just for us to see, and she also put on a video of the beautiful musical instruments. The dolls dressed in National Costume were magnificent. The costumes hand made and intricate. We had an absolutely delicious lunch at the Munkekroen restaurant, then went to see the 100 or so regional houses from years gone by in the open air museum. It was a wonderful day out.

Along the stream Leineane at Vennis you find six watermills. At the most, 13 mills were found at the Leineane, but most of them were taken by the great flood in 1860. Documents from 1729 show that at back then each farm with a waterfall used to have its own mill and that there were as many as 79 mills in Vang at that time.

After approx. 10 km, you will see a parking lot on the left side of the road, opposite the Lappish Camp. From there, follow the T-marked path for about 1 km. After passing through a reindeer fence, the route up to the summit of Bitihorn turns left and uphill. (The T-marked path continues straight ahead to Yksendalsbu). The route to Bitihorn is clearly marked and not very challenging. However, it does get a little steeper near the top. Enjoy the panoramic view towards Bygdin, Jotunheimen, and most of the northern region of Valdres. Markings Cairnes and red markings on stones. The Beitostolen Ski Center is situated in the village center of Beitostolen. The center has easy access to 9 lifts and 12 runs, with slopes for beginners as well as the more advanced skiers. Separate childrens area. Cross-country as well as downhill ski rental is available.
Beautiful Beitostølen - slopes are perfect for children, families and beginners. Ski school is FANTASTIC - friendly and brilliant instructors. Might not suit advanced skiers but perfect for a family ski trip
