Animal Aid Unlimited is a life-changing place for both people and animals in Udaipur, Rajasthan, India. Founded in 2002, our mission is to rescue and treat the un-owned street animals of Udaipur, Rajasthan, who have become ill or injured. Through their rescue we inspire the community to protect and defend the lives of all animals. Animal Aid’s hospital has approximately 450 animals of different species with us under treatment on any given day, and our sanctuary is home to 150 animals. Come for a visit, come to volunteer for half a day, or volunteer every day! We want you to come to Animal Aid and join in the magic that is animal protection and care. Animal Aid is a happy place where animals are healing and loved. Tours are given frequently at the following scheduled times throughout the day: 10:30, 12:00, 2:30 and 3:30.
It was our first time in India and as an animal lover, I had been very disturbed by the plight of some of the animals we’d seen living on the streets. I felt like I needed to do something to help but was unsure what. By chance we got talking to a lovely Australian lady in Udaipur who was feeding the street dogs, she then told us about Animal Aid Unlimited and the rescue centre. We took a tuk-tuk up to the centre, which was a lovely 20 min drive through the countryside. The volunteer coordinator, Rachel, showed us around and was very clearly passionate about the work they do and answered loads of questions, not only about the animals but also about living in India. It was a privilege to be able to spend time with the animals in such a well organised and inspiring place. There is absolutely no hard sell which was refreshing. I bought a T-shirt whilst there and have also since set up a regular donation to help support their work. Hoping to return as a long term volunteer in the future. If you care about animals it is an absolute must.

Ek means 'one’ while ling means 'lingam or the life-giving a phallic symbol of Lord Shiva'. The Eklingji Temple, one of the popular pilgrimages of Rajasthan is located at a distance of 22 km away from Udaipur. It was initially built by the then King of Udaipur Bappa Rawal, on the side of 72 rooms Jain temple which housed a four-faced statue of Adinath, the first Jain Saint. It stands with the great historic significance dedicated to Lord Eklingji, the benefactor deity of the Mewar clan.
was fortunate to find the temple open and get a Darshan of The Great Ascetic God “ Shiva “ : the temple is so calm and calming , almost like getting into a Trance in His Presence

Jagdish Temple is a very famous Hindu temple situated in the middle of Udaipur. This major attraction is devoted to Lord Vishnu, the preserver of the universe
The entrance looks like the stairway to heaven. As you walk up 32 marble steps you get a view of the surrounding buildings and kind of get the feeling of floating. Jagdish consists of three stories of hand carved stone, with a steeple nearly 79 feet high and is the largest temple of Udaipur. The temple sanctum has an idol of the deity Lord Jagannath /Lord Vishnu carved out of a single black stone. The entire temple is intricately carved.

Saheliyon ki Bari is another beautiful piece of architecture in Udaipur. This was built by Maharana Sangram Singh for his wife and the 48 royal maids who accompanied the queen. Saheliyon ki Bari is a fountain garden with greenery all around which provided a green retreat to the royal ladies. The ornate fountains and the well laid out pools are a treat to watch. The entire ambiance inside Saheliyon ki Bari is that of an oasis. We really liked the concept of summer garden decorated with automatic fountains.
