Truro /ˈtrɜːroʊ/ is a town in Barnstable County, Massachusetts, United States, comprising two villages: Truro and North Truro. Located slightly more than 100 miles (160 km) by road from Boston, it is a summer vacation community just south of the northern tip of Cape Cod, in an area known as the "Outer Cape". This preserve is a great place to commune with nature and watch the sunset.
Very nice place to walk and be out in nature. Good for birding. Be prepared for noisy people! This past Sat, one person thought he'd entertain his friends by singing as he walked. So much for appreciating nature! Recommend going early to avoid the crowds of you are into birding. Also bring bug repellant, especially for one of the trails along the pond.

No facilities here other than what looks like two bathrooms, but is really the equivalent of a port-a-potty inside. That being said, maybe it's one of the reasons that you're not packed in there like sardines. Available parking, available space with your neighbors. An over dune walk to the beach which can be tough and no mats to make it a little easier. The beach and view are really nice. When high tide starts to come in, it forms these huge trails along the beach where kids gather to use skimming boards. Was awesome to watch them. With the sharks around town lately, not too many swimmers the day I was there. The beach had just been closed the day before. Usual recommendations - be aware, swim in groups. Lifeguards are stationed, helicopters fly overhead, etc. Pay to park just like other National Seashore beaches.

This lighthouse was the first light sailors glimpsed when reaching this side of the Atlantic Ocean.
If you've never been to Highland Light, you have to go! It's more than a lighthouse. There's a very interesting museum located in the building, and during certain times of year they offer guided tours of the lighthouse. A lot of history, a lot to see, a lot to learn, & if you like to golf, there's an adjoining golf course.. Beyond the lighthouse is a path that leads to the edge of the dunes. The view of the ocean is spectacular! I'm a local and every time I have guests, I always bring them here. And I go by myself, with family, & local friends. It's a great place to go!

A new england vineyard on the Cape.
Wine tasting in an elegant surrounding. You can see the vineyard from where you sit (covered in case it rains). There is also a tour of the winery daily.

This a great family beach on the bayside of the Cape. There are no big waves, the water is very gentle. The sand is fine and soft and down the beach are private homes. You can see Provincetown in the distance. There is a large parking lot. Most Truro beaches require a beach sticker, which is available on a weekly basis, but you can park at this beach for 10 Dollars a day

Many different types of performances in the woods of Cape Cod, at a closed military base. All you really are aware of when you are here is the peacefully location, lovely night sky, surrounding woods and helpful staff. The furthest location from the stage is maybe 100 feet so all the seats are great. We saw Jefferson Starship and the sound was perfect - clear and not too loud. Beer, wine, snacks and soft drinks are available. Seats are folding chairs but are comfortable. Staff were very nice. Nice night breeze after a hot day in the sun. Really fun way to end a great day!

We rarely encounter many people on this trail. Perhaps the word has gotten out that it is not for the casual hiker. Sandy trails, no shade, and tidal transformations can take their toll, so follow the advice of some of the other reviewers and plan accordingly. On our first visit we were caught off guard, but thankfully we were sufficiently experienced to realize our limits and turned back without incident. Sunscreen, hat, water, food, sturdy footwear, and a map are all essential for a good experience. The best time to visit is early in the day (tides permitting) before the heat becomes a factor.

I have never been in this building before and wanted to see what was inside. I was met at the check in and given a run down of the place by a staff member. I like to read what surrounds the exhibits and found the tales of those who stayed here as a hotel fascinating. There was an exhibit around Thoreau's visit here many years ago and reading about his trips filled my minds eye to the differences a traveler sees the Cape today. I saved my receipt to have a dollar taken off my Highland Lighthouse tour.

Best beach in Truro in my opinion. We stayed in Truro for a week and tried all the ocean side beaches and this was our favorite. Waves, easy access from parking lots (no steep hills), no giant tide pools cutting off the beach (like coast guard).
