Trumansburg is a village in Tompkins County, New York, United States. The population was 1,797 at the 2010 census. The name is a misspelling of the surname of the founder, Abner Treman. (The family routinely spelled it several different ways, Truman however was not one.) The village's application for a post office preserved one of them. The Village of Trumansburg is located within the Town of Ulysses and is northwest of Ithaca, New York.

One of the youngest wineries in the Finger Lakes Region (circa 1992), the vineyards overlook picturesque Seneca Lake and offers a wide range of estate bottled vinifera wines.
While on a weekend away in the finger lakes my husband and I visited Lamoreaux. We had a great time- Laurie helped us and she was really nice and helpful. She showed us the difference between some of their Rieslings, which was really cool. Sh also didn'tt rush us which was a nice change from a few others we visited over the weekend. Great wine and a great staff- definitely worth a visit!

What a gorgeous park. We did the north and south rim and trails as well as the gorge trail. It took us about 2 hours walking at a good pace but stopping to take pictures and enjoy the gorgeous scenery. We had debated doing this as there had been a light snow the day before but the trails were fine. The parking lot was crowded and after we got there (around 2:30) people were waiting for parking spots! This was the lot closest to where the trails start so I imagine in peak season you have to park further away because this lot just isn't that big. Even though it was quite chilly, we are so glad we had the chance to visit. Lots of great overlooks and the gorge and falls are just spectacular. Beautiful park.

Eight people arranged this trip, all couples. Having done wine tours before (driven, designated driver, van etc) we decided a boat tour would be idea. First let me say the day was awesome weather wise and that helps. But we could see that the boat was well protected if NOT good weather. It was simply a blast! We visited 3 wineries and had lunch at one. The captain was fun and entertaining with stories and information. The boat tour was not only fun the wineries where a blast and we loved the views, walks to/from AND sometimes van or open "Kubuka" rides(did I spell right?) trips to the wineries from the boat. Over all very highly recommended.....YOU WILL LOVE IT!

Lively Run Goat Dairy is one of the longest operating commercial goat dairies in the country, beginning production in New York State in 1982 and pioneering goat cheese in the American marketplace. The entire Messmer family works to continue the mission of bringing to the Finger Lakes region healthy, sustainable and delicious goat cheese. Come visit the farm, get a tour, see our baby goats in the spring, eat some cheese cake, and most importantly - try our cheese!
Pleasantly surprised by this stop along the wine/beer tasting trail. The cheese samples were not only plentiful but absolutely delish--along with local jams and honey as compliments. Our host was most gracious, professional, welcoming and knowledgeable. The variety of cow's milk and goat's milk cheeses to sample were diverse in taste and texture....so worth it! Great souvenirs to purchase if you are picnicking between wineries as there are cheeses and crackers to choose from. Go here, it is a great time and you might be able to see the baby goats.

At the recommendation of a tour guide, we went to the Sheldrake Point Winery. Parking is convenient and the tasting room is quite large. The wine consultant was very knowledgeable and friendly. The wines were generally good. I was surprised by the dry Rose and enjoyed the reserve Meritage.

Bellwether Hard Cider and Wine Cellars is located on the west side of Cayuga Lake about 5 miles north of Taughannock State Park. We have a tasting room and gift shop where guests can try our artisanal hard ciders and single vineyard wines-all produced on site. Our gift shop carries mostly locally made products, as well as a selection of wine related items and cookbooks. Visit with our resident cats and dogs while you're here! Amenities include a covered outdoor patio with seating, picnic table, pond, restrooms (handicap accessible), and tours. Groups of 10+ by reservation only.
Don't pass this winery by if you think Cider is their only product.
The wine focus at Bellwether is on Riesling and Pinot Noir. Two of the Rieslings are made with natural yeast fermentation which adds a complexity to the wines which is unique to this winery. A bargain is their Provisions Riesling that is semi-dry with fresh fruit on the nose. Also try the Pinot Noir Dry Rose for your summer picnics. Barbara was our host in the tasting room. She has a great understanding of the wines and has lived most of her life in the Finger Lakes.

One of the largest of New York's Finger Lakes, this area is used for swimming, boating, fishing and other outdoor recreational activities.
Taughannock Falls State Park is a must see, especially after a wet season. My family and I were lucky enough to view the tallest falls, this side of the Rockies, during the summer when we had heavy rain. If parked at the visitor's center, you can park for free and look down at the falls. The center specialists can direct you to the lower parking lot where you have to pay to park, and walk 1.5 miles round trip to the falls. Best part about paying for parking is your receipt gets you in to other state parks for free the same day. Worth the adventure!

A cozy Winery in the Finger Lakes region serving award winning wines in a beautiful 1820 swing beam barn since 1981. Stop by for nice people, tasty food, and great wines.
My friend, my husband and I got the chance to visit a bunch of the vineyards on our trip up to the Finger Lakes. This one was one of my favorites, personally. It was a really cute, casual place.. super welcoming.. dogs were also welcome which is always a plus.. the bartender was delightful .. a nice girl, happy and funny.. all around, just a 'feel good' vibe at this vineyard.
The wines were pretty good... a lot of sweet varieties which made my husband happy.. plus they had a large variety of fudge which made My chocoholic friend very happy... and wine slushies which worked for me on a super hot, Indian summer day.
We had lunch at the cafe next door which was small but with some great options. I had the Cubano sandwich - very good! My husband had the pulled pork sandwich which he loved.. and both served with fresh, hand cut French fries.. Delicious. The waitress here was very busy but still attentive and friendly... and she gave us some great recommendations for places to go, including an ice cream shop down the road which was fantastic!
We sat out by the pavilion area for awhile enjoying our wine (slushee) and it was just a nice, relaxing place to be! I would recommend it to my friends!

The Channing H. Philbrick Park is a wonderful park because it gives you the feeling that you really are "back in the woods." The hike alongside the stream is flanked by steep hills on either side, and traverses flower-filled fields and wooden walkways over water. You get a sense of beauty and solitude, even though you are really in the town of Penfield. It's great for about an hour (or longer if you take any of the side trails). People enjoy fishing here as well. I highly recommend this place, especially if you live in the are but have never visited.
