The Moody Museum is located in the boyhood home of Texas' Governor Dan Moody. The museum shares the the story of Gov. Dan Moody's successful prosecution of members of the Ku Klux Klan in 1923. It also tells the story of his family and the Taylor community that helped to shape his legacy as Texas' youngest governor.
After visiting the new Equal Justice museum about slavery and the Jim Crow era I had to learn more about Gov Moody. He helped ‘break the back’ of the KKK in central Texas. Moody won a case where a white traveling salesmen was tarred and feathered by the clan in 1924.

Trouvaille Antiques specializes in antique furniture, unique items, vintage, and collectables.
This very well-run and eclectic shop popped up at Fourth and Main and has set the bar high for great finds at very realistic prices. The owners are so very nice and will even refer you elsewhere if they don't have what you're looking for. That's great service!

BSMP is a unique venue dedicated to creating authentic events. BSMP is available for private events, parties, concerts, corporate events, production space, film shoots and rehearsals. We offer in-house production services and staff. Family-run businesses have continually operated out of the building since 1883, starting out as a hardware store, becoming a burger and beer joint in the 1930's, a book store in the 1990's, and a well-attended music and event venue in 2016. BSMP is located right in the heart of down-town Taylor, across the street from the best local coffee shop, a great tap-room, a farm-fresh deli, candy shop, loft-apartments, a barber, and is 2 blocks from the Amtrak Train Depot. A lot of inspiration bounces through these small-town streets. BSMP is 2,700 square feet of original floors, walls, doors, and windows. This space is eclectically curated with great acoustics and a warm, cozy atmosphere.

After doing the Comanche Bluff Trail I hiked into Taylor Park. There are two old bridges featured in the park. Both used to cross the San Gabriel, Both were washed out in a flood and both rebuilt then both moved here in the 80's. The campground here was really nice with large sites and clean restroom/showers. Each had a sun shelter and picnic table. The trail gets a little confusing through the campground and is supposed to be a loop trail but I made it through on shear luck. From that bridge the trail went down along to lakeshore and it was really nice.

Stoped in to try the local brews. Current seasonal is the winner here. Double Peach IPA. It’s nice to have a double that isn’t a pallet wrecker. Bonus find is Davis BBQ had a catering set up so I grabbed a brisket sandwich✔️
