My husband and I visited here 9 years ago....and decided for our anniversary we'd do it again. It did not disappoint, and we loved spending time in nature- climbing stairs! There were families, couples, singles.....all stages of life. The day was overcast with a slight drizzle, but it did not dampen our mood. What a beautiful get-a-way......you feel a million miles away from it all. Thankful for this fresh breath of air!

The narrow drive on a dirt road to this waterfall is a thrill but the falls are worth every bit of the experience. Easy hike to a beautiful setting. Spent a good hour just enjoying the view... WORTH IT!!!

I've always wanted to go to Panther Creek Falls from looking at Instagram photos. I was up for the challenge but little did I know how much more difficult it was than I thought. It is mostly due to the wet grounds, slippery rock surfaces, big tree roots, and narrow passage ways. I had to put my phone away in my back pack, just in case my clumsy self dropped it 10 ft deep when hiking up the narrow, tree rooted passage ways.
Overall, it is not a difficult hike.....but only towards the end. Plus factor in the day we went. A day (or two) after rain, colder weather, and on top of that, it started raining on the way back. I wouldn't recommend young kids to come on the hike. When I say this, I am thinking about my friends with young kids who run around and need supervision. This ain't no state park with paved sidewalks. You might as well go to Anna Ruby Falls for that.
Usually when I go hiking, the walk on the way back is usually faster but not at Panther Creek Falls. Maybe it is due to the fact that it was still raining and wasn't going to stop. I am glad it wasn't a monsoon but being wet and cold was not very comfortable.
I am glad I came. Panther Creek Falls is checked off my Georgia waterfall hiking bucket list!

I absolutely love Tallulah Gorge, the falls, the forest, the history, the unparalleled beauty. By all means, make a point of seeing all of it. But this little overlook is something special. I hadn't been in a couple of years but I saw no changes this time. Aside from having the most spectacular view of the gorge from the back porch, it is a historical beauty of it's own. Just imagine being here when this was the main attraction and people drove from all over just to see this, especially when Wallenda crossed the gorge on a tightrope! Then grab yourself a cold, glass bottled Nehi grape or orange out of the old square cooler and pick up a moon pie.

A national forest offering a wealth of outdoor activities.
We drove through this area; winding roads with great scenery, and occasional terrific views. Plenty of hiking available as well. Bring the camera.
Can get busy starting in the summer months, so consider getting into the area early. So lucky to have this within driving distance of Atlanta.

Unless some of the other comments, my GPS took me straight to trail & parking area. I'm out of shape & was out of breath, but it was well worth it. Very nice waterfalls. So serene & peaceful.

Paved trail which starts north of old jail in day use area. Easy level trail which parallels the river for much of its hike. There is also a nice suspension bridge to cross without the 600+ steps. Perfect walk for those with strollers and/ or pets. There are a couple of other short trails that go through the forest off of the shoreline trail. Both are less than a mile but are more strenuous and unpacked.

Part of the Tallulah Gorge state park, Bridal Veil Falls are stunningly beautiful. Must hike in to get a good view. Absolutely amazing rock formations. Heavily wooded in areas. The sounds of the water rushing down the deep gorge is like music. Terrific day trip.
