Museo Nacional de San Carlos

This small museum is connected with the famous San Carlos Academy, the art school which Diego Rivera attended.

Without a doubt this was my favourite small museum in the city. Housed in an elegant former palace of the Marqués de Buenavista, most of the art is found in the upper half of the building. The art dates from the 14th to 18th centuries and was part of the San Carlos art academy. True many are lesser known artists but their quality is high. The Lucas Cranach the elder painting of Adam and Eve is worth seeing as well as the beautiful Frans Hals painting of a man. If you want to truly relax, see some beautiful art, enjoy a coffee in a beautiful courtyard please see this museum. Just west of Alameda park and west three blocks from Paseo de la Reforma.

This is a large monument, very attractive. I was interested in the fact that Pauncho Villa and other revolutionaries were actually buried there.

Museo Nacional de la Revolucion

This museum, which documents the Mexican struggle for independence, has an impressive revolutionary monument located in the courtyard in front of it.

On a sunny saturday we strolled the streets of Plaza de la República, where this iconic monument describes thousand of stories of Recolutionary mexican history. A wonderfull, clean and interesting museum below the inmense building that holds it, tells a great deal of anecdotes from the pre to post Mexican Revolution period (which will make you understand why mexicans are as we are). Museum access is less than U$ 2.00 and separate access to the highest point of the dome and foundation walk-around is around U$ 5.50 per person. Great views from the top!
