This park features a beach on Lake Superior, waterfalls, and miles of hiking trails.
Stopped while passing through the area. Very well worth the visit. It had just snowed the night before and the views were amazing. Would have liked more time to explore the rest of the park. Will definitly be back when we can spend more time.

Running along the edge of Lake Superior is a winding and hilly path, a favorite place for skating, biking, jogging and walking.
the lake walk is closed now due to a large storm that tore apart the boardwalk. can't wait for it to reopen.! it is so relaxing to walk along early in the morning and see the sunrise over lake superior. it really is spectacular.

This museum honors World War II flying ace Richard Bong and all veterans.
Between the historical center and the visitor center the staff could not have been more helpful. It is very interesting with the war memorabilia as well as all of the advice they give us that things to do and see in the area. Easy access and well worth the stop.

Originally constructed in 1905 as an aerial lift, this unusual elevator bridge is 386 feet long and spans the canal entrance to Duluth Harbor.
Stand in awe as a giant barge go underneath the lift bridge. The barges are unbelievably huge. It's a beautiful place to hang out on a summer evening. Lots of things to do down by the bridge.

Built as the family home of mining and lumber baron Martin Pattison, the four story, 42 room mansion was completed in 1890 at the cost of $150,000; estimated at today's costs to be well over $3 million. The exterior and first floor of the mansion have been completely restored to the original splendor, with gilded murals on the ceilings and frieze, a grand entrance hall and open staircase, marble and tile fireplaces, and original leaded and stained glass windows. The second floor of the mansion includes access to master bedroom suite, furnished much as it was during the Pattisons’ time in the house. The third floor is dedicated to the Children’s Home era from 1920 to 1964, when the mansion served as a home to the less fortunate. It also includes the restoration exhibit, featuring documentation of the extensive work performed during the 1999 restoration of the mansion.
Our last visit was many years ago, and since then, the exterior and main floor has been beautifully restored. The upper floors still need work, but such architectural gems are always a work in progress.
Nonetheless, exhibits tell the Fairlawn's story from its Victorian era beginnings to it's days as an orphanage. Tourists who come to visit the Glensheen Mansion on the Duluth side of the Twin Ports should be sure to include this second great mansion in the area.
Note: There appears to be wheelchair accessibility that would be limited to the first floor.

This museum is home to the world's last surviving "whaleback" boat.
Informative tour. We never had heard of a Whaleback ship and now toured the last existing one. Thank you for preserving this historical ship. Stairways from floor to floor are steep. No restroom on site. Admision/tour $8.00 adult. Be sure to check out the photo on the wall in the mess hall of actual crew members that sailed on this ship.

This is a beautiful park! It is free entry. There is a gazebo overlooking the lake, a paved path to the tower where you can climb 4 flights to the top for a spectacular view of the city. There are restrooms and lovely flower gardens. This park can be reserved from the city for weddings and private picnics. This tower can be seen from all over the city! Easy access from Skyline Drive. No need for a guided tour.

This was the perfect place to turn off before going down into Duluth. We got some great photographs, some great panoramas to see.

We found ourselves on the eastern side of Duluth while trying to get to Canal Park and discovered this park which features a large rose garden. Unbeknownst to many, an interstate runs underneath the park. You can catch a glimpse of the I-35 freeway and a small waterfall at one end of the park, but it hardly diminishes the charm of this place. You are probably not at this park to see the freeway, you have come to smell the roses. Even in October there were numerous blooms. And these plants are well tended. Leif Erickson park is connected to the Lakewalk so if walking and admiring the scenery is your thing then you can stroll up and down the path alongside the lake. The large amphitheater along the Lakewalk hosts summer entertainment. There is also a beach which you can access behind the amphitheater. We spent most of our time there since the kids liked to throw rocks in the water and climb on the bigger rocks. Parking is free at the park (3 hour limit I believe) and there are public restrooms. If you want to picnic there is a grocery store just across the street. To get to Canal Park by car from here just take London Road SW to E Superior and go south past Fitgers to Lake Dr. Otherwise follow the Lakewalk towards the lift bridge.
