Vancouver was founded as “Gastown” by an Englishman with a penchant for beer and storytelling. Today Gastown is a historic section of the Canadian metropolis, and the lively pubs still reflect the area’s former status as a sort of community drinking center. The city’s forests, grand parks, and impressive suspension bridge beckon travelers to explore them, as do the city’s shops and museums. Relive the glory of the 2010 Winter Games with visits to Olympic venues and the marvelous Olympic Cauldron.

Built in 1906, the Firehall building functioned as Vancouver's No. 1 Firehall and the first motorized Firehall until 1975 when the Firemen moved out and the arts moved in. After a variety of tenants the Firehall Theatre Society was formed in 1982 and currently operates as one of the busiest venues in Vancouver.

Vancouver’s old houses and the stories of the people who built and lived in them are my passion. My History Walks through Vancouver’s four oldest heritage neighbourhoods: the East End/Strathcona, West End, Mount Pleasant, and Grandview, are a culmination of over two decades working as a house genealogist. During that time I produced in-depth histories of over 800 Vancouver houses. People call me the House Whisperer. My blog, “When An Old House Whispers” is followed by people in over 70 countries world wide. If you like walking through and photographing historic neighbourhoods, if you ever wanted to time travel, if you are curious to uncover the mysteries hidden behind the doors of old houses, if you have an ear for old-timers’ stories, my History Walks are for you! Each tour lasts 2.5 to 3 hours. Check my website for the content, cost, departure times and locations of my scheduled tours. E-mail me if you would like more info or to book a private tour in English, Italian or Japanese.

In the spring of 2013, three long-time friends with a passion for great beer dove head first into crafting their own quality-driven recipes - while having too much fun throughout the process Postmark Brewing was born. With a work hard / play hard mentality Postmark Brewing boasts a lineup of sessionable craft beers that cater to the BC leisure + activity lifestyle.
A super sampling of one of Vancouver’s best craft beer AND wineries. Food looked very good. We were in for a one and done pint/glass so we did not sample the food. Staff were great, courteous and provided a historical account of the building. First incarnation was a World War II airplane propeller plant. Check it out.
