Strathaven Airfield is a traditional, family-friendly, three-runway grass airfield. We are home to more than 30 aircraft and microlights and a flying school. You may recognise the airfield manager's house from Grand Designs! Please come and visit us. We have self-service tea and coffee and picnic tables should you wish to sit outside on a good day and watch the aircraft.
I was given a voucher from my wife for my 50th present for an extended flight ( 80 mins). Due to Covid it was arranged 2weeks after the company had set back. I honestly can’t disregard in any way the professionally shown by Colin as he arranged and explained the day. As we arrived Graham the pilot was basically a friend and went out of his way as I asked many times to fly over family members houses. If thinking this as a voucher/ present then buy it. Yes may be a bit more expensive but you get the personal touch. I flew over my favourite football stadiums but more importantly flew over and took over the main homes in my family. Cheers Guys!

Historic live steam miniature railway set in the grounds of Strathaven Public Park. We have just celebrated 71 years of operating the railway in 2020. We have still in use the original locomotive which ran in the park for the first time on the 14th of May 1949. 'Margaret' is the locomotive in question and can be seen either on display or in use on special occasions. Weather permitting trains will be in operation from Easter to the end of September each weekend.
This fabulous gem in the heart of the delightful South Lanarkshire market town of Strathaven is run by volunteers and is one of the reasons Strathaven Park keeps winning Grren Flag Awards ! Its been operating in the park for over 70 years now and regularly you find three generations of families who are total fans and on the train together ! Miss this delightful attraction at your peril.

The cemetery opened in 1659 although legend has it that it has been a burial ground for over 900 years. Four distinct sections make up the cemetery and lairs can only be purchased at the time of burial within this cemetery. The cemetery has links with the covenanting trail. In 1820 James 'Pearly' Wilson and other radicals took up weapons and marched to Cathkin to protest at the Corn Laws that had driven up the cost of food. These Laws had caused great hardship amongst the Strathaven Weavers. He was arrested and charged and found guilty of high treason and hanged at Glasgow Green. His body was dug up and brought back to Strathaven where a monument in his memory was erected adjacent to the cemetery with the aid of public subscriptions. There are records dating back to 1875 available.

A great place for young and old. The little play park is very good and the new sensory garden is a great addition. The miniature railway was a huge hit with our grandson ( and me)

Great walk to the falls and around the river, thoroughly enjoyed by children and adults alike. The path can get slippy due to roots so important to take care. Beautiful and peaceful.
