We stopped by this park on a road trip because it was such a pretty day. This was a spontaneous visit and we are so glad we stopped.
If it’s a nice day out you can walk the trails and take a look at the animals. It’s very relaxing. Would be nice for a field trip or family outing as well because of how historical the park is. We are looking forward to visiting again and going on a guided tour.

Visitors to this 19th-century working farm can observe the locals feeding animals, making butter, and other tasks.
I really enjoy visiting living history museums. They are always very informative and lots of fun, especially for families. This one does not disappoint. It is small but has a lot to see. This is a well maintained original homestead. The people who work there are very pleasant and gladly answer any of your questions. It's fun to learn about the many chores associated with maintaining a farm of this area. It contains everything they needed to be self sustaining. The home, the garden, the animals, the blacksmith, the wind mill supplying water and smokehouse for keeping meats. It may be small but there are a lot of buildings to walk through. While we were there they were preparing the daily meal on the wood stove. Great talking to the people there. Right next to LBJ ranch, so if you stop to see one, see both.

If you want some down home type of attraction then get over to Leckenbach. Many of the locals will mention it but you need to look at a map to find it. Some magazines and brochures will talk about the history of the place and if you can find those publications do so, it will enlighten you of the facts and what to do there.

Garrison Brothers Distillery is Texas' first and oldest bourbon distillery. Our bourbon is hand-made from corn to cork right here on our little ranch. Tours are Thursday through Sunday @ 10am, noon, 2pm & 4pm. We'll teach you the entire process on how great bourbon is made. You'll taste our sweet mash, sample our white dog & end your visit with a taste of our fine bourbon. We strongly encourage that you call ahead so we can place you on our tour schedule.
We first visited Garrison's in 2013 for their tour. Since then we've had the pleasure of being volunteer bourbon bottlers 5 or 6 times, part of the "Redneck Maquiladora" as they call it. This time, we brought along a group of Airstreamers visiting Bandera to experience the tour. Since our first visit they've grown their distribution to over half the States and gone international, won awards, expanded the distillery, and improved the bourbon. All while maintaining an irreverence that fits the owner and long-time staff. You don't have to be a bourbon drinker to take the tour, but it certainly helps! And you'll learn the history of the first legal bourbon distillery in Texas. After the tour, sit 'n sip outside the gift shop and try a flight of their bourbons. No place but HYE.

This provides a real insight in to the lives of President Johnson and his immediate family. It reminds one that he was a real person as well as the President of the United States and the consummate politician. The exhibits are interesting and informative. Some, such as the bedroom where he had his final heart attack, are more than a little personal. We had an excellent tour guided by a knowledgeable docent.

Historic General store in the tiny town of Luckenbach, Texas built in 1849 by the German settlers of the Texas Hill Country.
Loved the general store! The staff was really friendly and very accommodating. They were willing to get down hats and T-shirt’s for people to look at and try on. Very positive experience for us in there!
The nightlife was a lot of fun, but I’d be interested to see all of it again during the day time.

Located in the Texas Hill Country between Fredericksburg and Stonewall, Becker Vineyards was established in 1992 by Richard and Bunny Becker. We are open for wine tasting, tours, wine gift purchases and picnics. We also host many events throughout the year that we encourage you to attend.
Becker Vineyards was recommended by the Guest Services staff of the hotel where we stayed. They were all generally good except for one ( Port variety ) which I found so sweet for my taste. At 3pm the place was busy and full on a Friday . The tasting room staff was gracious and informative. I would not hesitate to recommend this place to friends and family

We’ve been wine club members for a few years now. My favorite is Mary Ruth which has just enough sweetness to be perfect for drinking on the patio on a hot summer evening. Their whole selection of wines are great and they are all Texas...MoreWe are pleased to share a piece of our world with you. Thank you so much for the kind words and the patronage. Hope to see you in February for the wine club release parties.

My husband and I were celebrating our anniversary weekend and stopped by for a wine tasting. The place was packed and we didn't have a reservation (didn't know you made them). Anyway, we didn't have to wait long before we were seated at a nice spot outside on the patio with a beautiful view. The weather was perfect and our hostess was great. The wine was very good, so good that I ended up purchasing six bottles so we got our tasting free. Even better, they don't pressure you to purchase a membership. We had a lovely time, and really enjoyed the wine both there and since we've been home.

The French winemaker really is impressive and dedicated... great wines coming from this small winery. All Texas grapes... really worth a visit (must make a tasting reservation). It's a bit hard to find... just a couple of miles from the Hye Market. Wish they had a bigger sign or landmark to find them.
