Isn’t it romantic? The Caribbean island of St. Croix is practically the backdrop of a Hollywood love story. White sand beaches and lush rainforests set the scene for tropical bliss. Take in the historic small town charm of Christiansted and Frederiksted, sip your way through a spirited tour of the Cruzan Rum Distillery or explore the ruins of a sugar plantation. And the diving…oh, the diving. Think shipwrecks, think vibrant ocean life, think endless underwater possibilities.

You can stroll amid the ruins of this 17-acre estate, a former 19th-century sugarcane plantation village, which contains varied ecosystems from semi-arid cactus to lush green rain forest.
We stopped here for a couple of hours of history and botany. Amidst the ruins of an old sugar plantation, grows a garden full of plants brought to St. Croix by the various waves of settlers on the island. The ruins and the excellent map and guide tell the story of the plantation, the enslaved workers and the others who lived here. Most plants are identified with their common and Latin names.

Located on St. Croix's north shore, the waters are not always gentle along this palm-tree-lined beach, but scuba diving and snorkeling are very popular here where less than 200 yards out is the drop-off called Cane Bay Wall.
We nicknamed this beach, sunburn beach. We did not anticipate the sun to be this ... sunny. It was a great beach. Not too many people - we went on a Monday - so it was easy to find a good stop to lay and play for the afternoon. Snorkeling was great as well. Kids and husband said it was really cool! Bring the sunscreen!

The Best Bar and Top Beach on the island is situated less than a 10 minute walk or short cab ride from the Cruise Dock in Frederiksted. One-of-a kind sunsets and beautiful views! We are the original home of the Lime In The Coconut. Relax on the beach, catch a live performance on our famous stage by the islands best musicians, dance, eat great fare, jet ski, snorkel, visit our T-Shirt shop for authentic souvenirs, and even plan an ATV tour around the island. Just Limin & Stylin at Rhythms at Rainbow Beach!
Great Beach! Lots of fun watersports. The restaurant has good food and great frozen drinks. We had nice time here and visited twice while we were on the island. We would definitely recommend!

Lying 1.5 miles off the northeast coast of St. Croix, this 880-acre national monument includes 176 acres of land surrounded by 704 acres of water and coral reef system; it is a paradise for snorkelers, and the deep grottos and labyrinths are perfect for experienced scuba divers to explore.
Great sailing trip to the reef and beach on the Teroro II. Encountered 4 schooling sharks and thousands of colored fish exploring the reef.

An imposing yellow Danish fort built to defend the Christiansted harbor.
We found the history of this fort to be so interesting, and although some exhibits were closed due to Covid and renovations, the park ranger told us all about the fort and gave us a binder to do a self-guided tour. The fort is beautifully maintained and includes a dungeon. The history of the fort and the island itself is very sad, but this is a great place to learn about it. Right now, there is no admission fee, but that will obviously change in the future. Parking is free in the small lot next door.

This rocky promontory, the easternmost point in the United States, juts into the Caribbean Sea and features "The Castle," a huge mansion perched atop the cliffs and which resembles India's Taj Mahal and a Moorish mosque.
Bucket list to watch the sunrise at Point Udall. A good amount of people show up to watch the sunrise, so I'd suggest to get there a bit earlier than sunrise to secure a great spot. Although, it's hard to miss it any place you sit/stand. The millennium monument is a great little piece of history too.

This was one of my favorite activities in St Croix. The trail was not busy at all. Just a few people enjoying the tide pools. I would not go during high tide. There is a ton of exploring to do in this area. The rock beach is really neat. When the tide pulls out, it makes a really cool sound. Hermit crabs as big as my fist!!

The day we went to Rainbow beach, it was not at all crowded. We were able to find some sea glass. Which was my reason for going there. I will say, that on cruise ship day, the place was packed, so I'd avoid going there on a day a ship is in port.

Open 10-4 Sat and Sun only, and closed all summer for turtle nesting. We were there on Sunday afternoon and it was pretty crowded but the water is soooooo beautiful and the sand sooooo perfect! Go to the North beach area if you want the calmer surf. No shade and no services, so plan accordingly. Beautiful beach.

This is a fun little spot. You take the two minute ferry ride from the Christiansted boardwalk over to the Cay. Small white sand beach is a good swimming spot and we snorkeled a little too. The bar is a cash only bar with friendly bartenders and delicious affordable cocktails (try the green zing - $8). They also have good food (sandwiches, chips etc) a small shop where you can buy hats, sunscreen, and rent beach chairs and umbrellas. It was an afternoon well spent.
