The Kai Haven trail is a converted railroad track. The trees have grown up around it to provide a mostly shaded walk. The trail is flat after an initial stretch from the parking lot of about 1/2 mile. Nothing difficult even about that part since it is a paved path. Once on the former track though it levels out and you can walk as far as you like. We went about 3 miles out and then turned and came back. Very pleasant especially when crossing the river via the covered bridge.
There is nothing spectacularly scenic other than the initial part near the river which is very nice. But it is a very pleasant place for a good long walk.

Even in the dead of winter with waveburgs along the shoreline it is still a beautiful and an experience no one should miss. Walked out onto the pier, which was still a bit icy and listening to the waveburgs and ice cracking with the smooth movement of the water beneath was simply amazing. It reminded my grandkids and wife of the movie Titanic it was so quite while hearing nothing but ice cracking.

The new playground equipment looks like a ship. It was cute and had several slides. Fun for a 3 year old who pretended to steer the ship. The beach was extremely quiet on a Tuesday in September. It is a busy beach in the summer with a concession stand and volleyball nets. Great place to enjoy Lake Michigan.

We strive to preserve, interpret, and invite the public to experience and learn about our Great Lakes maritime heritage from our Museum in South Haven.
Visited when the Nina and Pinta replicas were docked at the museum. Did a quick walk through the museum's main building. Explored the Coast Guard building as the Coast Guard holds interest for us. And the best...we told a ride on the Black River aboard the museum's sloop, the Lindy Lou. The trip lasts an hour. We went past all the boats, large and small docked along the river, saw cottages and homes, and at some peaceful scenery along the way. This would be a beautiful ride when the autumn colors are peaking!

Visit our artfully crafted and inviting tasting room located a 1/2 mile from the the shores of Lake Michigan to experience our innovative wines in an intimate setting. We want your excitement to build from the beginning, starting with a drive through the vineyard and ending with your expectations being met with excellent wines, great service and beautiful views. Both indoor and outdoor service, including tours, are available.
Having tasted wines in more well known areas for wine in the country, and lived in one, I had modest expectations based on other local visits. The wine at Cogdal Vineyards is very, very good and the staff is excellent. I would recommend the stop to anyone in the SW Michigan area.

What a wonderful little gem o a beach. A littlr rocky but still a great experience. What was even more amazing was watching all the families with little ones having a great time with out any screaming or bullying. Just a great summer afternoon. They also have indoor bathrooms that were well maintained. We plan to go back when we are in the area again.

Awesome wooden climbing structure that the kids love, several sets of swings & baby swings, a separate old fashion slide, and picnic tables. Right across from the beach, with a beautiful lake view. Public bathrooms. There's a baseball diamond, and you may catch a game going on. Keeping an eye on kids in the structure can be a challenge because it's so big, but I do that anyway. There is some shade, but not an over-abundance. Right across from stairs to the beach.

Stopped on a Sunday afternoon and had the place to ourselves. The tasting room is spacious and inviting. The hostess was very personable and talkative. Tastings $5 for 6 samples. Mostly fruity wines, a couple standouts that we ended up buying. They had cider on tap for consuming on site. You can also buy cheese and other items here.

We were at the harbor area and decided to stop in to see what they had. We ended up sampling and buying 6 bottles of wine which we took with us. The people were very nice and helpful. One woman helped carry and load the carton in the car which was very nice. We bought a mix of alcoholic and non-alcoholic wine. They had many interesting and delicious flavors of wine to choose from.

This is where my husband and I went on our first date and 3 years later he took me back to celebrate on our anniversary and he ended up proposing. He had the whole thing arranged with the owners, who were so kindly willing to help him out with it. They quietly started asking people to clear the ice rink while we were skating and played our song over the speakers. When I started to see people getting off the rink, I couldn't figure out why and that is when my now husband got down on one knee to propose, right in the middle of the rink. It was such a perfect proposal and the owners of the ice rink made it possible for us. They have open skating most of the time but during Icebreaker's Festival the offer curling lessons and a skate party on New Year's for kids
