Lake Jindabyne

We enjoyed the hospitality of the Jindabyne parkrun with impressive views over Lake Jindabyne. This parkrun is very popular with tourists and the local volunteers do a great job in organising the event. This is an impressive body of water and offers a range of water sports. The bird life around the lake is also abundant. Thanks for your vote.

Snowy Hydro Discovery Centre and Cafe

The Snowy Hydro Discovery Centre and cafe showcases the amazing history of the Snowy Mountains Scheme; from the early days of construction through to how it is operated by Snowy Hydro today. This is a must for any visitor to the Snowy Mountains region! The Centre houses a comprehensive exhibition hall including an extensive photographic collection, models, hands-on exhibits and a one of a kind immersive theatre. You will find information about the Scheme such as engineering, the environment, the National Electricity Market, history, water management and power generation. Take your turn on the “power bikes” and see if you can peddle hard enough to power a TV, make some toast or boil a kettle. You will also find screens displaying the Scheme working in real time. See which generators are operating, how much electricity they are producing and the prices of electricity in the market. Stay for a while, have a barista made coffee and light refreshments at the Discovery Centre Cafe.

Excellent Discovery Centre - showing 2 films, both very worthwhile and informative, combined with an excellent display. Learn about the exciting new Snowy 2.0 project. I spent a very enjoyable morning learning and revisiting memories. Staff knowledgeable, helpful and friendly and together with a Cafe making a great coffee - what more could you ask for.

Tumut River

Reviewed By Madshus - Canberra, Australia

I dropped my friend off upstream so that he could raft down the river. Apparently you can raft 20km in 3 hours. Anyway I spotted him at the banks of the council campground - a beautiful spot - and he kept going till just before the bridge over the Snowy Mts hwy. The river was deep and fast with swirls in it. Not for the faint hearted. Sitting by the banks was very enjoyable!

Perisher Blue Ski Resort

Reviewed By Eddrake - Southern Queensland, Australia

I've been to Perisher Valleyto ski in recent years, and have always benefitted from taking some lessons there. The Snowsports school lessons can be booked ahead on line (which attracts a discount); they cater to all levels of ability - from first timers to advanced - and group (including Max6) as well as private instruction options. The instructors come from many countries, but all are fluent in English and excellent at what they do. (Last week I was delighted to be in Elke V.'s small group - she's from Bulgaria and was terrific!) Fortunately the terrain at Perisher allows plenty of variety in the lessons, and an opportunity to be guided around the vast ski field. While lessons are not cheap, I recommend them as a good investment in the future skiing confidence and enjoyment you'll gain. (BTW, there are classes for snowboarders too.)
