Playa Las Cuevas

Reviewed By Westcoaster2013 - Vancouver Island, Canada

It is so wonderful to walk along a path lined by palm trees and other foliage that offer a bit of shade on a hot day. Playa Las Cuevas connects with Playa Malpaso and in a lower tide it is easy to go around the sand by the rock bluff to get to Malpaso and then hike the length of that beautiful beach.

The Rose Room Yoga Studio

The Rose Room is a beautiful open-air yoga studio within the heart of Sayulita Mexico. We offer numerous public yoga classes from challenging thoughtful vinyasa practices to sunset restorative classes. We have (sterile) manduka mats to rent:)

Reviewed By trywhat12 - Toronto, Canada

After staying in Sayulita for about a month, Rose Room was mentioned numerous times as a stand-out facility - which had been newly relocated at the Don Bonita Hotel. As a seasoned practitioner and Modo Yoga Instructor, I was truly amazed with not only the space itself but the quality of instruction and 'home away from home' feel I instantly received when walking through the door. Audra has a spicy yet authentic personality - her classes cater to both new, mature and ideally offer modifications which meet all suitable levels for a Vinyasa style of yoga. Vanessa has a hatha touch - which is remarkably similar to that of Modo Yoga. Her soft voice, tenacity for challenging the sequence and warm heart compliment the classes variance. Andrea is a firecracker - offering a sequence which not only allows you to feel great in your body, but comes from a professional-dancer's background and trained knowledge of movement. Drew offering restorative classes remind you the need to also include this style of yoga into your daily routine - especially on Sunday's to wind-down on your weekend. Mandy/Kerry, who are also guest teachers, sprinkling in an extra bonus of well sequenced classes dedicated to bringing out the best in both physical movement and ensure to incorporate a mindful practice, in addition to offering Full-Moon DJ-led classes, New Moon Flow's and multiple workshops. I again could be bias, as I have not tried any other yoga studio's in Sayulita, however Rose Room offered everything I was searching for upon my first class - a community, that I can now call home.

Sayulita Farmers Market/Mercado del Pueblo

Mercado del Pueblo is the only Farmer's Market in Nayarit and the first in the Bahia de Banderas. We feature local, organic and natural consumable goods from the region. Recently, local artisans were also added. Every Friday, during the growing season from November-April,come enjoy the products of the area from vegetables and fruits to medicinal products and prepared artisan foods and handmade jewelry. Live music every Friday and street performers make it fun for all! All proceeds from the market go directly to support local projects like water and river clean up, providing biodegradable and natural cleaning supplies to the town and supporting our local children's parks and schools.

Love the Friday market in Sayulita. The food options are excellent; fresh organic produce; lots of great baking; nuts; candy; cheese; amazing local crafts people; and some entertainment.

We came here every morning with our 7 year old to check out tide pools, throw the football, and build sand castles. It was a great quiet beach with beautiful views. I’d highly recommend getting off the beaten path if you’re in sayulita.

Monkey Mountain

Awesome view and steep. I tried twice from the south and once from south. Take a cab to the south which cost 250 pesos but I think I was over charged. Follow the dirt road and on your right is walk through fence and double track, which becomes single track and boulders for the top 10 meters. Beautiful. To run back to Punta Sayulita take a creek down which ends up at a plantation with brick diversion and black 2 inch rubber tubing. You take the road back and you are on the north side.

Sayulita Beach

Reviewed By 767avac - Vancouver Island, Canada

Sayulita, the town and the beach, is yet another experience I won't forget soon. It's crowded, noisy, full of street vendors, too many tourists, surfers, beach goers, dogs, dogs, dogs (in a good way), traffic bumper to bumper, just an amazing place to sit down and watch it all happen. From all the steamers and colour banners flying above the cobblestone roads, to the hot mexican watermelon candy, to the endless parade of gringos to and from the beach, to the piles of garbage in the streets, it's in the middle of nowhere yet clearly over-capacity town. For myself, nice to visit, but way too busy to consider staying there unless it was a seriously quiet hideaway from all the noise and mayhem on the streets. Lots of stores, restaurants, bakeries and such. The beach really was amazing and beautiful. The waves were huge but we did not go too far on the beach as it was clearly overcrowded. We found parking early on in the day, but later, don't count on it. Just bumper to bumper all through the town all day. Wow is all I can say.

Before my trip to Mexico I tried to research good places and guides that could take me to see what I wanted. I am more of a photographer than a birder, so I wanted to make sure it was a small group that was flexible. A birding group in Canada put me directly in touch with Luis. He and I emailed back and forth many times. I could tell this was the right place for me immediately! Luis picked us up at our hotel and drove us to our San Pancho morning tour. The place was teaming with life! Luis spotted for our group of 4 and documented our sightings. Later we received a list of everything we saw that day. After this part of the tour we went to his location and had a wonderful, fresh home cooked breakfast outside in the hard. Luis is very passionate about the entire ecosystem and also very optimistic about how the community locally is embracing programs for protecting the area. Later we went on to walk in an area of mixed farm and meadow and saw more magnificent birds. The next day I was supposed to tour the Marietas Islands, but Luis informed me that the others in the group had cancelled. I really wanted to do this tour because it featured the nesting are of the Blue Footed Booby. Luis sensed my disappointment and we came to an agreement that worked. I was taken to the island on a small boat, away from the massive tour boats that frequent the park and photographed the thousands of birds that come to these islands. It's really remarkable. The tour included snorkeling too which was a refreshing break. On the way back we saw a humpback whale and the crew went out of their way to follow it for awhile so I could get a good opportunity to get my shot. Captain Chopo and his crew were very accommodating and friendly. If I could rate the experience any higher I would.
