During our last visit to Louisville the couple we were visiting insisted that we accompany them to this small candy shop in Jeffersonville, Indiana. We happily agreed and experienced a wonderful demonstration of candy making. The samples were also wonderful. Before leaving, we bought a variety of chocolates to taste after returning home. These chocolates, filled with various fillings, were some of the best we’ve ever tasted. So smooth, creamy, rich and flavorful. They truly did melt in your mouth. Today’s visit was just to replenish our supply and add some more variety to chocolate tasting experience.

Tour guide "McDanny" showed us an incredible experience being 100 feet underground. He was extremely knowledgeable on the history of this 110 acre limestone mine that started in the 1930's until the 1970's. Fascinating history and information about the impact of limestone and bourbon in Kentucky. I loved the electric bikes with super fat tires. It made the uneven and rocky terrain quite manageable and provided some decent speed for an exhilarating experience! The ability to see 95% of the cavern including the zip line area and going through the mountain/BMX bike areas was quite the treat. McDanny was safety conscious, having a grandmother in the group he was very patient and was able to help her out when she had a bit of difficulty navigating a minor hill on the way back. My 12 year old grandson and I thought this was the highlight of our trip to Louisville....even after we had been to the Louisville Slugger Museum and Factory. We would love to come back to experience the Mega Cavern's Christmas Light show!

The two biggest malls in Louisville are Mall St. Matthews and Oxmoor Center. Mall ST. Matthews is large, clean and has several stores to choose from-especially for the younger shopper. Or especially for those of us who shop for gifts for the younger crowd. They have a Cheesecake Factory and a Red Robin plus a sizable food court. There is also a Starbucks for the coffee lover. The down side is that during the holiday rush parking is at a premium and getting in and out of the mall can be frustrating. Note: they are attempting to make improvements in the access roads for customers. I’m just not sure when that will finally be completed. One more thing- they have an attractive(fairly new) cinema theatre there now.

One of the most scenic parks around. Trees abound almost everywhere. Beargrass Creek flows through the middle of the park. An old cemetery borders the southeast corner. Mallard ducks swim the creek under the bridge. Apartments and Baptist Hospital border the park. Interstate 64 cannot be seen, but can be heard. Brown is a very nice urban park.

We went to Lazer Blaze in Louisville on a Saturday afternoon. It was completely packed, especially with a lot of older kids (teens), which was pretty overwhelming for my elementary-school aged boys.
We had to wait in a long line just to buy attraction tickets - there was only one worker/cash register. There was a 90+ minute wait for a laser tag time.
We did the indoor glow-in-the-dark miniature golf, which is 9 holes, so didn't take long.
The bumper cars were fun - they are the round kind that move forward, backward and spin left or spin right. The bumper car area is inside the cafe.
The laser tag arena was quite large - it seemed bigger than other laser tag arenas I've been to in other cities. There are a lot of players, too. You pick one of three teams - red, blue or green. I think there are 10-15 players per team.
They are very good at making several loud announcements over the speaker system when it's your turn for laser tag. Each time slot has a group name (e.g. Omega) and they call out that group name when it's time to come to the arena doors.
The worker who gave us our instructions before entering the laser tag arena rattled off her talking points so fast that I had a really hard time understanding her, and I'm sure my two young boys didn't understand half of what she said.
The arcade is a basic arcade. There are machines that give you tokens after you put in cash. Then there are machines to turn in your tickets and get a receipt to take to the prize counters. As with other arcades, the prizes are mostly cheap junk toys.
In all, this was a decent place to spend a bit of a Saturday afternoon on a cold day. I would probably want to go back at an off-peak time (whenever that may be) because it was just too crowded for us.

Kentucky Peerless Distilling Company opened in Louisville, Kentucky in 2015, but the distillery's roots extend back to 1889, when their ancestor, Henry Kraver, began distilling bourbon. Corky and Carson Taylor, fourth and fifth generation descendants of Kraver, are the historic-turned-urban Bourbon makers dedicated to providing a distinctively-authentic bourbon experience with distillery tours and tastings. Visit to experience, first-hand, the Peerless Caliber that sets Peerless spirits apart.
We love Peerless Rye and their bourbon ball truffles so much that we planned our trip from Georgia to Ohio through Louisville to visit this distillery since we had such a great experience the n October ‘17 during out 1st visit. The Staff is super friendly and knowledgeable! Alayna was our host today and she was super and made our 2nd experience even better than our 1st. They offer a tasting of the 3 single barrel flavor profiles (oak & pepper, floral, vanilla & caramel) that make up their signature rye....really cool to see how each taste individually and then how they come together in the signature product. Love the vanilla and caramel profile! Also, call me for the truffles! They are absolutely amazing! My favorite from any distillery. Great gift shop also! Well worth a visit....a don’t miss!

The Conrad-Caldwell House Museum is a historic, Victorian mansion located in the heart of Old Louisville on St. James Court. It is one of the finest examples of Richardsonian Romanesque architecture and was the masterpiece of famed local architect Arthur Loomis of Clarke & Loomis. Surrounded by a beautiful courtyard neighborhood at the center of the largest collection of Victorian Homes in the US, "Conrad's Castle" featured all the latest innovations of its day, including interior plumbing and electric lighting. Known for its beautiful woodwork and parquet floors, this massive Bedford limestone home, covered with gargoyles, beautiful archways, and elaborate stone designs, incorporated 7 types of hardwoods and magnificent stained glass windows in the interior design, making it one of the most stunning homes in Old Louisville. The Museum has been lovingly restored to the Edwardian Age, housing a massive collection of period items including many original pieces, and stands as a testament to the abundant lifestyle of the owners, two of Louisville's most prominent businessmen and entrepreneurs, Theophile Conrad and William E. Caldwell. Step back in time as you learn more about the era, the neighborhood, and the families who lived here. **The House offers tours Wednesday through Friday and on Sundays at 1 pm and 3 pm and on Saturdays at 11 am, 1 pm, and 3 pm. Thank you for your interest in the Conrad-Caldwell House Museum!
One of the reason's we decided to visit Central Park was to walk across the street to visit the Conrad-Caldwell House Museum. Such a beautiful house (castle) from the outside I couldn't wait to get inside. Well, we got to the door only to find out it was closed. I sat down to double check the website. The site said their hours were: Wednesday, Thursday, Friday & Sunday 1:00 PM & 3:00 PM.
It was Friday at 2:45 when we arrived (ready for the 3:00 tour). I even checked the sites special closures and it was supposed to be open. I would suggest you call before leaving to make sure they are open. Most of these tours are by volunteers and I'm just assuming since it was a rainy day they just didn't want to get out in the weather. Very disappointed.

My family had a great time bowling. The staff was friendly and helpful. The place was clean even though it could use some updating. All in all it was a fun Family evening.

Call me strange, but we walk around cemeteries. It's clean (usually), cheap, interesting fare for any lazy afternoon or post-breakfast walk. With that said, I've walked through many cemeteries, but always compare them to this one (home-court advantage, I suppose). It's just beautiful, expansive, very well thought-out too with lots of history!
