WHO WE ARE Our brand represents innovation, creativity, and yet historical simplicity. The Dampfwerk is a family distillery located in St. Louis Park, Minnesota and our goal is simple: produce outstanding spirits to be enjoyed in the company of friends and family. It starts with a name: Dampfwerk. Like most things we do it is not the easiest name to pronounce but it goes to the essence of our process. “Steam works” is the translated version and it is essential to the distillation process to produce our premium spirits. But we are not just a name; we are a global family that enjoys the simplicity of a good meal and spirits. To create these spirits, we have imported a hand-hammered copper still, originating from the Schwarzwald in Bavaria. Like the farmers in Bavaria, we pride ourselves in building relationships with local orchards and suppliers to produce the best spirit possible under exacting conditions.

Radio broadcasting is the focus of this museum, which is filled with old equipment and memorabilia.
The Pavek Museum is a real hidden gem in the metro area. Anyone with an interest in or fascination of the early days of radio and television broadcasting will find much to see and learn about with a visit here. There are also other items to be found.....Telegraph machine, Edison phonograph, console radios, broadcasting microphones, one of the first magnetic tape recording machines used to record radio programs in the 1940’s. Check out the museum’s Hall of Fame, saluting many on-air personalities and other pioneering people involved in broadcasting, from all over Minnesota. The volunteer staff at the museum are well versed and knowledgeable. Children would enjoy the look back at how radio and TV started and became what it is now. There’s an interactive area for them to participate by ‘working’ in a newsroom and putting on a news broadcast as well as an old time radio quiz program.

Bunny’s opened at 4730 Excelsior Boulevard in St. Louis Park in 1933. One of the most often asked questions over the years has been, “Where did that name come from?” The story goes like this… The original owner, Henry Aretz, was in need of a sign for his new bar, Aretz’s Place. However, the sign maker had a different idea. He had made a mistake on a sign that read “Bunny’s” and, not wanting to scrap the job, asked Henry Aretz if he wanted to buy a sign “real cheap.” Henry, knowing a bargain when he saw one, bought the sign, and Bunny’s was started. The Aretz family owned Bunny’s until Gary and Sherman Rackner bought the bar in 1988. Bunny’s became a Bar & Grill, with the addition of a kitchen in the fall of 1988, and continued its tradition of a place where local patrons could relax with friends, catch a game, and also have a great meal. Unfortunately, Sherman passed away in 1997 and, due to the proposed redevelopment of Excelsior Boulevard, Bunny’s had to find a new location by the end of 1998. In January of 1999, Gary brought in a new business partner, Steve Koch, and they reopened Bunny’s in its current location. We are happy to be in St. Louis Park and look forward to being a fixture in the community for many years to come. In memory of Sherman Rackner, Gary’s father and business partner, we have named the back bar “Sherm’s.” Sherm, we hope you are proud!
Bunny's is always great; everything about it is great, food, beer, ambiance, great bartenders and waitstaff. It's a fun place to go if I am alone or with friends or for a business meeting. Great menu with a variety of food including daily specials, happy hour, and late night happy hour. Menu pricing is reasonable and the staff is always friendly and the owner is always floating around and on the floor that I think is very important...

This grounds of the nature center offer a playground as well as an outdoor natural play area and wonderful trails for hiking. I love sitting in the gazebo while looking over the lake. The nature center has a variety of animals including turtles, frogs, a toad, a flying squirrel and more. Children can play with lots of toys and puppets also.

Copperwing makes lovely cocktails in their tasting room and I recommend taking home some Fresa gin (strawberry). What a great local distillery!
