We vacation at Lake Lure from Florida every year and have been to Riverside Stables for 16 years. It has become a family tradition. My daughters started riding there when they were 6 years old.The satff is very friendly and personable. The horses are well cared for and gentle. I am sure we will continue to visit for years to come.

Overmountain Vineyards is a boutique winery that sits on a 70 acre family owned farm in Tryon, North Carolina. OMV grows 16 acres of french vinifera focusing primarily on Petit Manseng, an elegant aromatic white originally from southwest France as well as red varietals Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot and Petit Verdot. Please come visit, taste the difference and enjoy a truly distinctive wine experience at Overmountain Vineyards. From our family to yours!
This is one of my favorite wineries to visit and the staff and team behind the winemaking are clearly doing things right. I have been to many wineries within the state, France, Italy and like to think I can recognize good quality wine. The staff is very friendly, the atmosphere is laid back and I loved the Moroccan music that was playing outside while I did my al-fresco tasting.
If you visit in the near term, the Cab Franc is excellent - very smooth, hint of spice with notes of cherry and vanilla and a great finish. It reminds me of their 2015 Petit Verdot which is a personal all time favorite wine that I have bought a few bottles of. If you have a dog, they are pet friendly. They sell some meat and cheese but I have seen others bring their own food to have here with their wine. Highly recommend this winery!

Lots of cars from many decades. Most cars had the back story of the car written along side. Place is very large so it does not feel crowded.

Time seems to have passed over this store; it is the old-fashioned type general store that has not stood the test of time in most locales. My dad had stumbled upon Washburn's when visiting a family friend in nearby Union Mills, NC. I'm so glad I got to visit with him this time!
First, the owner (and this place has been family-owned since the 1830s) sits on a bench in the front of the store & chats with visitors. There is also a wonderful elderly dog sleeping somewhere in the store. And time has passed over the prices as well. I purchased a number of gifts (for others & for myself!) for less than $50 total. Great kitchenware, local crafts, & food (e.g. molasses, chow chow, jam). As a bonus, they even have Blenheim ginger ale, which is difficult to find elsewhere. What a lovely spot!

Our vineyard and winery rest below the beautiful St. Anna Chapel, which is a part of the Eastern Diocese of the Russian Church Outside of Russia. Visitors to Russian Chapel Hills Winery will perhaps be most delighted at being able to visit an authentic, 17th century stile Russian chapel. It is our heritage. You are welcome to discover a new experience in our estate winery.
Arrived right at opening so we had the tasting room to ourselves. This gave us a great opportunity to talk with the owner and learn of his Russian history, the history of the vineyards and the authentic Russian chapel that sits on the property overlooking the sea of grapes. Absolutely breathtaking! 3 big friendly dogs greet you as you drive up. Tasting of 8 wines cost $12. Definitely recommend the Mosaic red blend.

Gave it a three because the customer service and facilities were out-standing. Panning for gold was a whole different story. Spent two hours panning without a single fleck in our pans. Gentleman next to us found a couple and third guy arrived to see if either of us found any since he had been there for three days and has found nothing. Took that as our hint to move on. Wasn't worth our $10, since there are so many other gold and gem mining opportunities in that area.

Found this through "Romantic Asheville" and went to a Saturday Night horse jumping competition. I found it exciting and thrilling watching the horses and their riders compete. Its a beautiful arena with nice (albeit expensive) shops and some small restaurants. There was a band, beer for purchase, well behaved dogs were welcomed, great seats....and beautiful athletic horses and riders to watch. I had a wonderful time and can't wait to go back.

My spouse and I were just hanging out around the house trying to figure out what to do on a beautiful fall afternoon when we decided to make a short trip to Spindale, Nc to ride the Thermal Belt Rail to Trail. I am so glad we did!! It was a great day on the somewhat easy mountain biking trails. Rolling hills, approximately 2 miles paved and the other miles was fine pebble stone. There is a historical site along the way that talks about the era when gold was being mined in the area. A local jeweler was there and further enlightened us about the history of Rutherford. Very friendly. Loved seeing all the historical mills in the area. I would definitely recommend this ride to anyone including families. After we finished the ride we drove a short distance and ate at The Shak. I would definitely recommend eating here, it's worth the drive.
I'm looking forward for the completion of the extensions!!

The property is beautiful, featuring grape vines on site, and a huge flower garden. For $10, you get to taste all 7 wines and keep the glass. The owners were so friendly and entertaining, and Lulu the dog was a real treat! I loved all the wines. Bottle prices range from $15-$20. I enjoyed the entire experience. Would have given 5 stars, but it was a bit pricey for me.

At Mountain Brook Vineyards, crafting wine is a labor of love. All of our wines are made from 100% NC grapes, harvested by hand, and fermented separately in oak barrels and unoaked stainless steel tanks. We keep our vintages small to ensure the highest quality. Enjoy our wine tastings while relaxing to a mountain view overlooking our vineyards.
This winery isn't in the NC wine tour guide book but so glad we found it. Was skeptical at first, given we just happened to see a couple of small roadside signs pointing in the direction of the tasting room. It is located upstairs while the barrels, and vats are downstairs. Owner was very cordial and we had a great time. Can't wait for the next visit / and he said they're considering music outside.
