The last covered bridge built by J. J. Daniels.
Loved seeing all the covered bridges that have been so lovingly maintained, restored & loved over the decades. Such a great time seeing history while it still exists. Memorable towns and even more memorable people.

We stayed at the Old Jail Inn above the Drunk Tank winery. Trina who does the tastings was actually the one that checked us into the hotel. This is one funny woman! When we walked in, there were a group of people laughing at the bar, and you could tell we were not in on the jokes being thrown around at the bar. But she quickly caught us up by sarcastically picking on people at the bar. We had such a great time with people we had never even met before. The wines are from all over the country and some were even from Italy and Spain I believe. They had may of the Oliver wines from Indiana as well. They had a great selection of super sweet to super dry, depending on your taste. I was shocked at the amount of good Napa Valley wines they carried. Trina kept everyone laughing as she kept the tastings moving along or kept your glasses full if you wanted a whole glass. She was hysterical. We spent two evenings in the Drunk Tank enjoying the laughs with other patrons and making new friends. Reading the walls was fun as well. Everyone that comes signs the walls, which carries over into the Inn above as well. It's a cool underground bar type atmosphere and a really fun way to spend the evening! Thank you Trina

Covered bridge that some people say is haunted.
Hunting covered bridges in Parke County Indiana was a great adventure. We had the best time traveling on the dirt/gravel road searching for covered bridges. We were able to locate all 31 bridges. Great vacation!!

This 245-foot bridge is probably the most-photographed covered bridge in the Midwest.
This mill still runs. Its usually open and you can buy goods there that were made from the mill. There are old fashioned goods for purchase there and neat items to see there. The owner/operator is very knowledgeable and loves to share stories and the knowledge he has and answer questions. There is a lookout window there and you can get perfect view of the small waterfall and covered bridge from there. This has been kept as preserved as possible. The bridge was sadly a case of arson but the community rebuilt it to look like the original but you can not drive across it, walking only. This is a must place to visit. A Beautiful spot for photo shoots or just to get Beautiful shots of history and nature.

Raccoon State Recreation Area is surrounded by Cecil M Harden Lake (Raccoon Lake), a 2,060 acre federal flood control reservoir. Raccoon is a popular camping, boating and fishing spot in western Indiana. The park has over 300 electric and non-electric camping spots with modern restroom and shower facilities, a swimming beach with a beach house containing showers and a concession stand, 10 picnic shelters, 5 boat launching ramps (one inside the SRA and 4 around the lake), a 3-D archery trail, 335 acres of huntable land (off Ferndale road on the south side of the lake), and 8 miles of hiking trails with views of rocky cliffs, the lake, second-growth forests and prairie restorations. The park also has an Interpretive Naturalist program with regular programs every weekend Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day weekend. up-to-date program brochure detailing all the fun hikes, crafts and activities at the park can be found at the property office.
My husband and visited on a Tuesday afternoon in September during the pandemic. We had not been to Raccoon in probably 45-50 years. Other than the campground we pretty much had the park to ourselves. The park is very well taken care of. We ended up at Payne Shelter which was extremely clean for an outdoor shelter. We had a picnic lunch and sat and enjoyed the beautiful day in a beautiful park.

Very nice lady working when we visited. They have a variety of vintage items and crafts by local folks. I bought a solar light made from vintage parts. Cool little place to visit.

Parke County, IN is a wonderful place to visit to relax and get away from the hustle and bustle of today's lifestyle. The baackroads are so beautiful and it is so nice to find all the bridges while following the map. You really have no fear of getting lost because the maps are so good. Normally one might be nervous about driving such remote roads, but, with the maps, it is very easy (for the most part) to find all the bridges and find your way around. We located all 31 bridges and this is the third time I have done this.
