Our grandchildren loved working on their Jr. Ranger books here. They had to search for small boxes containing clues to find their next "letter" box. They also liked searching for the painted bison statues which blended in with their surroundings. The adults liked the beautiful well-kept grounds of wild flowers and the secret garden. Docents were well informed, interesting and willing to answer any question. There were art supplies available on loan in case you became inspired to paint on your visit! We even found the least expensive postcards on our trip - 10 for a dollar!

I rented the mansion for my wife's Roaring 20's birthday party, and it could not have been a more perfect setting for the party. You don't even need to decorate the place, it has so much character. Like something out of a movie. It's no wonder so many people get their pictures taken here.

WCC raises wolves in a protected setting in the hopes they can be reintroduced into the wild. They regularly run educational programs with their ambassador wolves that are used to appearing in public. The center also maintains an internet/Facebook presence with photographs and recordings of their elusive residents.

A very worthy recipient of contributions if you love wildlife.

Why visit: Experience the River Building if you love architecture and appreciate others' spirituality. I had seem a model of this building at the MOMA in 2016 and what a wonderful gift to experience firsthand.
Fee: Free, show license at the gate.
Parking: Plentiful.
Experiences: A library, welcome centers, a basketball court, dining hall, natural trail, sanctuary.
Events: Suggest you consult an events calendar before your visit. I would love to see Grace Farm at night.
Vantage Point: If you GoogleEarth, you can get a wonderful perspective. We parked near the entrance and learned about the transformation of the east/west visitor welcome centers from stables. I wonder if there is a different parking lot to give you a different perspective.

Keeler Tavern Museum

Reviewed By Patty B - Stamford, Connecticut, United States

This was our first time at this venue, for a wedding. We did not go into the museum or gift shop. The wedding was at 4pm. The gardens were in bloom. The arbors were well maintained and provided an interesting backdrop for photos. The fountain was not completely filled and then drained as the cocktail hour went on. But that was the only down side, and it did not factor into the event for the guests at all. The guests were seated on the grass, facing the building. The wedding took place at the top of the staircase leading up to the building. It was perfect! The outdoor patio was the perfect place for the bar. The building was charming, with a fireplace with a mantle. This is where the bride and groom had a little table of their own. The room held about 8 tables of 10, which allowed for a small dance floor, with a DJ in the corner. The food and gift table were in the opposite end. After the meal, tables were moved to make a bigger dance area. We had no problem parking, and the folks who helped were great. And we danced out on the porch too. As I understand it, you have to bring everything, meaning you only get the physical space. Food, drink, etc. must be brought in from the outside. I would definitely consider this venue for any type of gathering!

Aldrich Contemporary Art Museum

We did not expect that this small town would have a contemporary art museum of this caliber. Apparently the foundation chose to get rid of it's permanent collection and move to featuring a small number of artists whom they present for a period of time. The offering reminded us of the Hamburger Bahnhof Museum in Berlin (Germany.) We were treated to a personal tour by the very knowledgeable docent and were enthralled by the inside-outside nature of the exhibits. All in all, a wonderful "find."

Saltana Cave

Reviewed By Allen21096 - Chicago, Illinois

We thoroughly enjoyed our experience at Saltana Cave. The staff was quite personable and helpful. Saltana Cave offers speleotherapy (salt cave therapy) and they are introducing a halotherapy using a salt generator. When you walk in, you are surrounded by Himalayan salt rocks The salt therapy treatment offers a unique form of alternative therapy that provides you with relief from many respiratory ailments. It allows you to get a sense of peace and serenity while simply breathing in the salt particles. They then travel into the deepest parts of your respiratory passages. Salt therapy is naturally anti-inflammatory, antibacterial, antiviral and antifungal. Most of the time there will be a minimum of two, and up to twelve people per session, though private and group sessions can be arranged. It is reasonably priced. We loved the zero-gravity chairs and the ambiance with the soothing music.
