This is a really nice park to go to, also with children. In summer it's really nice with animals everywhere, in winter they've got an ice sculptures and even a place to glide from. Worth a visit.

When you think about the power behind such a mighty river as Enisey, the river that managed to divide Sayan Mountains, you realize the highset level of human thought and skills that tempted such a powerful Northern beauty. With 242 meters high it's the highest dam in Russia and one of the highest in the world. Surrounded by breathtaking Siberian neture, it is really impressive.
It is located not far from Sayanogorsk so there should be public buses to destination but the best way would be by car.
There is an observation deck just next to the parking area that also provides shops and restrooms. The monument to the builders is very nice - try to find fishes there hidden in the stone.

This was a great museum. They have some excellent displays going back to cave paintings. The arrangement is strange and the museum is very labyrinthine, but there are about 5 different sections. One is cave paintings, one is traditional lifestyle, one is a mix of modern and mid-century art, and then there is a section on flora and fauna and geology of the region. Spent about an hour-hour and a half there to see everything. The downside is that all the signage is in Russian only--hopefully that will be changed when the new building opens! Still worth a visit, though, especially with your Google Translate app to help.

The Large Salbyksky Mound is a round base of a former kurgan, marked by large stones and a kind of a ditch. It used to be a big mound, but archaeologists have excavated it for artifacts. Now it stands as a testimony of old and mostly mythical historic period of this land, as there aren't written sources (same as with Scythian excavations in Tuva). It's off the road that goes off the main road: turn left from main road from Abakan to Krasnoyarsk, drive about 30 kilometres and then there's a sign for tracks in a grass. Follow them for another 5 kilometres and you've found it. We visited by ourselves, just came in the morning and the guards were kind enough to open the gates for us half an hour earlier. The entrance fee is a bargain - 70 rubles per person.

As a French teacher, I was so surprised to run across the Little Prince in this faraway land! But that's the point isn't it? Finding what or whom you love, no matter where you are, and whether you're lost or not? Gracious blessings to whomever conceived and executed this project!

В центре Абакана можно погулять и посмотреть и Сады Мечты, и Собор, и этот памятник, стоящий на фоне Собора. Хорошее место для прогулок.
